Where will Disney build its next DVC?

I am referring to a DVC on WDW property. When and where do you think that the next one will be built. Maybe the Poly? Just for fun.:yay:

I'm hoping Grand Floridian. About the only place I would consider buying points. There were rumors that they may turn one of the exisiting buildings into DVC.

They will build where and if people will buy.

Based upon the incentives and on going price cuts at the existing properties, Disney wants to move their existing inventory. The big question is, who low is acceptable to them and will they wait until the economy improves?

Obviously with three different places still on sale on site, they have no need to rush into another one. However, absent going to a lower level DVC attaching to a moderate or value, they really have only two more places to build if they want sharing with a hotel and that is GF or Poly. The other option is stand-alone unless they decide to build another premium hotel and they know stand-alones sell slower than ones attached to hotels unless they find a way to put a stand-alone next to a park.

I heard from a DVC guide about adding more to Old Key West.

That would be surprising considering OKW & SSR are usually the last rooms to fill. I don't know where they even have room to add-on at OKW. It is surrounded by roads on 3 sides and a canal on the other, plus a golf course.

I would love to see the Grand Floridian to add DVC, however, I think the next addition may be at Disneyland with a new tower added to the Disneyland Hotel. :)

Since Bay Lake Tower has been so successful in terms of sales, I would expect the next one might be at either the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian. Of the two, I think the GF is more likely, although I'd prefer the Polynesian.

To me the biggest question is not where but IF. They have BLT and AKV still selling with some SSR left. They have HI and possibly National Harbour pending. IF they do something then a second tower at CR is a possibility as are GF and Poly. They could add on to BWV & VWL if they wanted. All of the locations have space issues to one degree or another but if they get creative they could add on at anything including BCV. In some cases it might mean taking part of a parking lot and possibly looking at a parking deck. There is also a lot of open space they could add a new stand alone resort, esp if the 5th park is truly looking to happen. I'd say GF is the most likely of those though I'm not predicting anything.

This is our home resort. We've said to ourselves many times that we're surprised by how few rooms they built there. And how there is room for more in the parking lot. And considering how fast they sold out I'm surprised they didn't add more.

Would they have to have the 2042 date? Is that the issue? I guess they could build at the YC and change the date.

I know SAB gets crowded but if they expanded the DVC portion at BC they could expand the quiet pool and add a take out place at the quiet pool and they'd be all set.

And for the record, I think they'll tear down the south wing and build another BLT tower.

They could do either. To make it a later date without extending the current resort they'd have to make it a legally separate entity but they could do that. The question is whether they would and I doubt it. I guess they could put a YC component the other side of the pool and possibly take up the small parking lot. However, space at all of the Deluxe's is pretty limited so I think they are getting to the point where they may need to look at parking decks. If they do, the possibilities are pretty endless though the decks themselves add a lot of expense. OF course they could go for the other side of the parking lot across epcot resorts blvd and there is quite a bit of room there. A direct walkway to the front entrance would be any further than BLT is to MK. As I said, there are lots of things they could do if they get creative. Another approach would be to add full DVC components to the moderates and this might be the most economical option though it'd be a little harder to sell than a DX.

I would love to see them build at the Yacht Club or the Poly! I think they will build another tower at Bay Lake first though.

Agreed. I think we'll see them demolish the garden wing and build another Bay Lake Tower. And instead of the "Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort" we will have the "Bay Lake Towers at Disney's Contemporary Resort".

As far as building DVC at the Poly, there is no room for them to add rooms, not without taking parking spaces out...which is possible. They could also, conceivably, take out the wedding pavilion and add a building or two over there. I REALLY doubt that they will convert existing rooms to DVC, since the Poly is the most in demand resort at WDW and is hugely profitable.

They could conceivably add on to the GF more easily than they could at the POLY. On the north side of the property there is a drainage canal that they could reroute to expand the usable space by the GF to add several DVC buildings.

I think before we see a Poly or GF DVC, they will build a new DVC resort. It looks like there is a good space of land between the Contemporary and Poly. They could conceivably add a resort here, and make it a new monorail resort pretty easily without having to expand the monorail line.

Take with a grain of salt...
When we took a tour (not with our normal guide), we were told they did test drilling earlier this year to see if it was feasible to build another tower where the remaining wing is located, but it was not suitable for another tower.

I believe this is the area that was supposed to be the Mediterranean resort. Very swampy and poor ground samples ended the plans.

As far as new resorts (at least at WDW), I suspect it will be a few years. Three WDW resorts actively being sold. Based on info on the OCC web site, Disney either foreclosed or used ROFR on a bunch of contracts. They have a bunch of points even at resorts that are "sold" out.
