I feel like I should show my daughters the movie Snow White at some point. I've held off for a few years because my friends told me it's almost a horror movie for kids (Queen asking huntsman to cut out her heart) etc. My kids do NOT like dark movies; They refuse to watch Brave. But I'm considering Snow White because of the mine ride, etc. Does anyone know where I can get the movie though? Maybe for not too much cash? I can't seem to find it on Netflix or Amazon Streaming or anything. I think I saw a collectors edition dvd but it was about $45.

I don't know that you want to own it, but you can buy the DVD on ebay for $15 or less.

Try your local public library. Mine has almost all the Disney movies in the children's section.

What excellent ideas!!!! Thank you so much - I hadn't thought of EITHER of these options! :):):)

Not that this helps you, but I just recently dug out my old Snow White VHS tape and old tv with built in vcr just so my 3 year old son could watch it. I admit, some parts were pretty dark, but he actually loved it. The dwarves are quite silly. Our local Family Video had a lot of the Disney movies, and they are free!

Disney movies are not that hard to find, and they movie you want to show your kid is quite popular so i am sure you will get it for a very reasonable rate at any library or if you check it out online.

If you still have a VCR - lots of second hand shops around us have TONS of Disney on VHS for $1-2 each (we have so many that friends give us their VCR's when they want to get rid of them so we have backups!)

Just a note - my 6 year old HATES that movie!

I haven't seen Brave, but IMO, Snow White is pretty scary and dark. You might want to watch it alone before showing it to your kids. My kids don't scare easily and they find it to be pretty scary. There are a lot of "boogie man" type moments in it. The Dwarfs are hilarious, which seems to make everything better for my kids, but some parts are pretty scary.

Hmm. On second thought, maybe I WON'T have them watch it. They seriously do not like suspense and peril. Is there a Seven Dwarfs short or anything I could show them instead?
