Breakfast: Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's
Misc.: Tea at the Grand Floridian, Ice Cream Social

We're not morning people, so we rarely made it out for breakfast (including the food court). The couple of times we did, we ate at the Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's. I enjoyed both of them very much ... the food is similar at both restaurants but my boyfriend prefered the food at Chef Mickey's a little more (he likes pancakes, and we couldn't find any at CP). I liked CP a little more because Pooh is one of my favourites :) I really liked how the characters came by and spent time with us even though we were two adults. We also purchased the picture package at Chef Mickey's ($26.63 incl. tax for two 8x10 and two magnet photos) and I'm glad that we did because some of character pictures didn't turn out too well :( The camera ran out of batteries and when we went to change it, it forgot where it was and didn't advance the film properly.

Other places we ate at...

The Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grille in Epcot! Lots of fun and a nice break from the afternoon heat! The place was pretty empty when we went and the characters have tons of time to spend with you :) On the day that we were there, there weren't too many other people for lunch or the ice cream social.

I also took my boyfriend to Afternoon Tea at GF. Guess what? He actually liked it. :) The only thing was, we were about an hour late because of the buses (mostly timing issues on our part). When we arrived at 5PM, there were only two other parties there. The waitresses were very attentive and didn't rush us at all. We ordered the afternoon tea for two which we both really enjoyed. When it came time for dessert, we were told that we could chose either two pastries or a bowl of triffle. If you've ever seen the pastry tray, you'll know how hard of a time I had :p I was saved though! The waitress came back and said that because we were the last table of the day, we could take as many pastries as we wanted!! In fact, she gave us a styrofoam container and said we should take some back with us! I didn't want to seem like a pig, so I chose 4, but she kept more on my plate! My boyfriend, naturally, wanted the triffle  but she left a bunch of pastries for him as well! She told us that if we didn't take them, they'd just throw them away (kind of sad because there were so many left).

So, I think that's about it :p Any questions? Just let me know! :)

bunnyfoo,

Did you find the tea a substitute for dinner or was it more like a light snack? I was just wondering exactly what you had.

I'll bet the pastries were great! Funny how the running late thing turned into a fortuitous occasion.

Thanks for the reviews,
penny

Hi Penny!

I thought that was funny how everything turned out okay :) I was worried that we weren't even going to get a seat. I thought there was a nice variety of foods, but nothing too heavy. We had little sandwiches (I think there were four), scones w/jam and then dessert. In my opinion, it was more like a snack ... but then again, I'm use to eating big meals

HTH :p

Thanks for the reviews. Sounds like fun.

Now I can see DISers trying to get the last PS for tea!:teeth:

Thanks for the great reviews bunnyfoo sounds like you had a blast :)

Thanks for the reviews! My boyfriend also enjoyed the tea when we went a couple of years ago. :)

Bunnyfoo:
Just curious as to how much icecream you got at the Garden Grill icecream social? We have ressies here in a couple weeks and have heard mixed reviews on this. Any details would be helpful. Thanks

Hi Mary!

It seems like you get about 1 1/2 scoops, but the scoops are quite big, so maybe 2? The ice cream served in a waffle cone which is standing on top of the cookie (that was my favourite part). It's vanilla ice cream, the kind with the vanilla bean specks in it.

I thought it was a little on the pricey side since I wouldn't normally spend $6.99 on ice cream (doesn't that buy you a tub of the stuff at the supermarket ;)). But the event was a welcome break from the afternoon heat and the characters (Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale) were great fun and came by the table several times! IMO, that made up for the price... :)

Thanks for the reviews Bunnyfoo. I don't feel so bad dragging my DBF to the Afternoon Tea when we go in October, since your DBF seemed to enjoy it so much.
