We were in the world 2/27-3/6, we did not opt for the dining plan. There were four of us: DH, myself, DD-13 and DS-10. Some restaurants were adament that DS could not have a children's menu at age 10! :sad2: They were LTT, YCGalley, Plaza and WCC. I did not force the issue as he liked things on the adult menu but 3 plate sized pancakes was just silly for him to have to order at YCGalley! We had ADR's for all our sit down meals, good thing too as most were quite a wait for walk ins. All breakfasts unless noted were muffins, donuts, yogurt and juice from BC Marketplace.

Day 1 dinner Teppanyaki. 3 steak and chicken combos, one steak meal. 2 fruit smoothies, 1 kirin lite and 1 Mt. Fuji drink. Everything was really good. Chef was ok, not the best but not bad either. Kids really like the food here and picked this one. Would go again. Desserts from French bakery, not as good as we remembered. Eclairs a bit dry. Chocolate mousse good.

Day 2 lunch LTT. 1 Pilgrim's Feast (DD loved this), cheese burger and steak fries, colony salad and turkey panini. Food here was pretty decent for MK which is not a great park for sit down. It was nice to rest, service was good. Would do again. Snacks were 2 malts and 2 chocolate milkshakes from B&C-really good. Dinner was ESPN, PBJ (from kids menu), pulled pork, nachos and grilled chicken sand. It is pub food, not much more to say. Fun place. Desserts from BWBakery cherry danish, eclair, choclate chip cookie and brownie. All good.

Day 3 lunch PTC. Ham stacked sandwich, turkey stacked sand., gr. chicken sand and DS ordered from kids menu a grilled chicken breast with fries and fruit. We had smores for dessert. Portions of ham and turkey sand were huge. Disappointed with table location but waiter "cousin Joey" made up for it. He was great, fun but not over the top. Definitely would eat here again. Dinner: take out for kids from Hurricane Hannas, chicken strips and cheeseburgers supplemented with applesauce from marketplace and Hello Panda cookies from Japan. Adults ate at Les Chefs. Food was very good but atmosphere very loud and crowded. We had eaten there before on a more quiet night and liked it better. However food was hot and fresh. I had french menu: french onion soup, roasted chicken and creme brulee, DH had lobster bisque and beef tenderloin and mousse royal dessert. Both had a glass of wine too. Rolls were to die for!

Day 4 lunch at Le Cellier. Sort of disappointing compared to other visit. Our server was inattentive, she was talking non-stop to the table next to us about hockey. Other tables of hers also looked peeved. DS ordered petite fillet cooked medium. It came hockey puck well done! By the time we got her back to tell her and they cooked another one he was so hungy he had eaten the fries and a breadstick so didn't eat much of the meat  . Of course we were all done. Someone from the kitchen came out to apologize but it sort of ruins the meal. I had tenderloin salad and cheese soup which were fine, DD had a chicken sandwhich and mash potatoes, Dh had prime rib sand. No desserts. Probably try somewhere else next time. Dinner was Wolfgang Pucks after La Nouba. We were really hungry and I must have looked ahead of time at the wrong menu because it was a bit more adventurous than I thought. We had to wait about 10 min. for a server however she caught our eye and we could see she was busy. We gave her our drink and food order together and told her we were starving. She brought bread out immediately and our food came super fast! :) DD and I had bbq chicken quesadillas (I liked mine fine, DD did not), DS had kid's pepperoni pizza which is super thin but he liked it and DH had pasta and meatball, sort of dry just ok. Wouldn't go there again. Dessert was so fun at Goofy's Candy Co. Kids ordered the marshmallow skewers loaded, DH had a dipped cookie and I had 2 chocolate covered strawberrries.

Day 5 breakfast at YCGalley. Good food, big portions, made son order adult menu it was a waste of food-oh well. He had chocolate chip pancakes and sausage, DD had a bacon and ham omlette and DH and I each had 2 egg breakfasts. Good and hot food. Lunch was a hodge podge at TL, big pretzel, hot dogs, smoothies, ice cream. Sort of a junk binge through the day! Dinner at Marakkesh. Shared appetizer trio, beef brewat, chicken bastilla and jasmine salad. All really good. 3 had tenderloin kebobs cooked a perfect medium, DD had chicken kebob which she wolfed down. DH and I each a nice glass of red morroccon wine. Kids had fruit drinks they enjoyed.

Day 6lunch at Plaza. 2 had cheeseburgers with fries, 1 club sand with potato salad (yum) and one turkey sand. with fries. Big portions here too. Kids had a chocolate shake (best of trip!) and toll house cookie shake. Good ice tea here. Really like this place to eat in MK.
Dinner was Biergarten. Nice surprise, food much better than we guessed. Timed it just right to watch the show twice, it was different songs both times. Friendly waiter here suggested a lovely bavarian beer which DH loved. Would eat here again.

Day 7 breakfast was at Spoodles. We were surrounded by cheerleaders! :cheer2: It was a bit disturbing to see so much make up on such young girls (7 or 8 yr olds) no flames from the cheer moms please JMHO! :rolleyes1 2 had ham and cheese frittatas, one had 2 egg breakfast and DS had 2 mickey waffles and sausage from kids menu. Lots of juice choices including pineapple, DD had a fancy hot cocoa. Lunch was food from Hurricane Hannas for the kids and adults split a turkey and fresh mozzerella sand from marketplace. Dinner at WCC. DS had bottomless chocolate shake and the NY steak with fries. He also ate salad off our skillet. Rest of us had skillet. DD loved the coleslaw, chicken, mashed pots best. I liked pulled pork, ribs, corn and corn bread best. DH liked it all. It was better than I thought it would be. Server was middle of the road. Kids liked the antics with ketchup and all. Glad we went. Desserts from candy store on Main St. MK during emh.

Day 8 lunch was B&C before the airport. 1 had cheese burger, 2 turkey sand and 1 roast beef. No ice creams but we saw a banana split, it looked huge, can't imagine a kitchen sink!

All in all it was a good week of eating! Sorry for the long length. Happy to answer any specific ?'s. :sunny:

Thanks for posting your reviews! :thumbsup2 Just curious, what did they say when you asked for a kids menu?

At all the check in podiums I was asked the ages of my children. I suppose I could have lied and said DS was 9 but I didn't. Besides most of the times he was standing with me and I would not want to lie in front of him! At LTT she asked their ages then said "All of you will need to order from the adult menu". I did not argue as he only wanted a burger anyway, same thing at Plaza. At YCGalley same thing about age and adult menu, but I asked for a child's menu anyway and the hostess said "it is only for 9 and under". I didn't argue further so as not to embarrass DS. At PTC was asked about age and told the truth then asked if son could have a children's menu anyway and she said "of course". Le Cellier hostess offered both menus to son at table even knowing he was 10. ESPN didn't ask or seem to care at all. I just assumed some of this vigilence was due to the dining plan. :confused3

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad we didn't have to deal with that when my kids were ten, especially my daughter, who is especially fussy. I think children twelve and under should be able to eat off the kids menu anyways. JMHO ;)

thanks for the reviews - i enjoyed reading your comments ...sounds like a good assortment of restaurants
hope you get back to WDW soon!

Did I understand you to mean that you got shakes and malts from B and C as snacks on the dining plan? :Pinkbounc Or did you pay OOP for those. That would be different from what I saw you could get as a snack. Thanks for the great reviews.

I stated at the beginning that we were not on the dining plan. The milkshakes were just an afternoon snack for us. :)

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thank you for posting your reviews. I'm upset about the restaurants forcing your children to order off the adult menu. We were told last year at a few places that my DS would be charged double if he ordered off the chiildrens menu but when the bill came they didn't.

I keep deleting all my other thoughts :guilty:

This is just nuts. My DD won't eat much off the adult menus so now what take her to counter service or we just don't go to a TS. Sorry but its her vacation too. We considered the DP but it really was a PIA for her to find things on the adult menu.

WDW should take a BIG lesson from Sea World. They have a young adults menu and a childrens menu. Who ever thought that Sea World would be more family friendly then WDW.

My DD will turn 10 two months before we head back to WDW, and she is a picky eater never eats much at any one sitting even when she likes the food. When I first started planning this trip, I was debating whether I would get my money's worth for 2 kids and 1 adult on the dining plan. I finally realized (duh!) that she would be 10, and an 'adult'. No dining plan for us!

I've noticed a lot of people mention they wish there was Junior meal pricing (great idea!). My question is, what DOES the 'Junior' category apply to, if anything? I've noticed on the Disney commercials the prices quoted refer to 2 AD, 1 JR, 1 CH. Just got my room-only ressie confirmation in the mail the other day....it has 1 Adult, 1 Junior, 1 Child. What the heck does the Junior mean then? :)

I don't even mind the price so much as the choices for a 10 year old. My DS-10 won't eat steak at all. All adult menu's should offer at least a hamburger for picky eaters or those who can't eat much.
