This trip was myself and my husband, Randy. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge.

Tuesday evening at Chef Mickeys. This is our first night tradition. This time we were able to take a boat from wilderness lodge over to the contemporary which was nice. Our waitress was absolutely awesome. However this time the meal just really seemed overpriced. I know we are paying for character interaction NOT food but it seemed more overpriced than just a $5 per person surcharge. There is no reason for this meal to cost more than the clambake or LTT. Prime Rib was reasonably good. Mashed Potatoes were awesome as always. Hubby loved the thai spiced chicken.

Breakfast at Kona. Now this is an incredible deal. Hubby had the Big Kahuna I had the Tonga Toast. The Tonga toast was something I was glad I did once but wouldnt repeat. Way too big and too sweet, but yummy all the same. The Big Kahuna was a big hit with hubby, although the fried potatoes werent cooked right on this day, and the french toast wasnt as good as in the past. Randy said the pancakes were delicious. And this truly was a BIG kahuna.

Dinner at LeCellier. An absolute treat! We liked the wine cellar type atmosphere. Very nice waitress. The cheese soup was good. Hubby loved it as well as the breadsticks! I ordered the new york strip which comes with potatoes and paid extra to try the risotto. Hubby has the rib eye. Hubby loved his steak! Mine was pretty good, although I have had better. The risotto was good and the mushrooms were incredible. We were too full for dessert. This was our favorite meal!

Lunch at the castle. Hubby agreed to do this to make me happy, he has never been too thrilled with the castle. This time he was very pleasantly surprised. After we arrived, Cinderella and Mary Poppins showed up. I got in line with my cellphone so they could wish my Mother a Happy Birthday. They were happy to oblige and Mom was thrilled. We had the crab eggroll as an appetizer which was quite good. The ceasar salad was huge. More than enough to share. Randy really liked the baked cracker that comes with it. We both ordered the prime rib rare and it was very good. The menu only lists an 8oz cut but Randy was able to order a 10 oz and we were told a 14 oz was also available. I really liked the mashed potatoes, Randy not so much.

Dinner at LTT. This is a really nice break during a late day at the park. The character interaction is fantastic. Chip especially always goes above and beyond. The salad was a little dry but we didnt bother asking for more dressing. The gravy was great and the meat and stuffing pretty good. Last time we loved the macoroni and cheese but this time it was TOO rich. Dessert was good but we really felt weighted down after.

Lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. Really impressive and reasonably priced for counter service. Randy thought the pulled pork was a little dry and not terribly filling. The ribs were really impressive.

Dinner at Artist Point. An excellent meal as always. Although our waitress clearly had a language problem and wouldnt admit when she didnt understand our requests. The buffalo steak was excellent. I loved the sweet potatoes. Randy not so much.

Late dessert at Ghiradellis. We split a hot fudge sundae. This was really good and actually seemed lighter than most sundaes (we usually feel all bloated after this kind of treat). We each admitted that we wished we had gotten our own sundaes instead of splitting one.

Breakfast at Kona. Obviously we like this place and it is a very convenient drive from WL. The potatoes and French toast were much better than on Wednesday. However, my eggs benedict were only okay. Last time I had them here they were excellent.

Snack at Sommerfest. Randy absolutely loved the bratwurst and Kraut.

Dinner at Clam Bake. We love this meal. The sweet ribs were very tasty as are the mussels. While the clams are far from the best, they are quite tasty and enjoyable. I love trying each of the the tiny desserts!

Thanks for sharing. I am a bit confused :confused3 on Chef Mickey's. You mention a $5 surcharge. What is that about? I have a PS for breakfast and dinner on our upcoming trip and was not told anything about it :confused3

Thanks for posting!

Sounds like your lunch at the castle was a hit. My family (all males!!! :goodvibes ) went for dinner on our last trip to the castle JUST to appease me. Surprise, we ALL loved it.

How sweet of you to call your mom on her birthday with that special greeting!

Thanks for your reviews. You helped me decide that not choosing Chef Mickey's for dinner is a wise decision for us, non-buffet fans.

(I think the surcharge info is the extra amount added onto the meal price which totals the regular charge for a character buffet. Right?)

Enjoyed your reviews. Sounds as if you had many good meals. :sunny:

Sorry about the confusing surcharge statement. There was no surcharge. The price per person is the price per person.

What I meant is that I know that the price per meal includes an implied "entertainment fee." In otherwords you are paying for more than just the food itself.

If someone doesnt eat they are charged $5 as "entertainment fee." However, in my opinion even if you subtracted $5 per person the food itself would still be overpriced.

I hope that clears it up.

Thanks for your reviews...we ate at Le Cellier for the first time last week and we were also pleasantly surprised! I had the strip with the risotto and DH had the ribeye and also the beer cheese soup and we were VERY pleased!

Isn't the WL awesome? I love taking to boat to the CR, and then being able to get to all the other monorail resorts!

I have not tried Kona Cafe, but it is on our list for "must try." I LOVE eggs benedict...so i guess i will try them!

thanks again!

Great job on writing your reviews. On your next visit to the Kona Cafe order the Macadamia Nut Pancakes. They aren't overly sweet, just right, and along with a presspot of Kona coffee, you'll think you're in heaven. :)

Sharing your reviews and glad to hear you had good meal at LeCellier our favorite at Epcot. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:
