Ok, we finally booked our airfare and we are arriving the day before....where should we stay Friday night?...

We've stayed in the Polynesian, the Boardwalk and in Cocoa Beach in the Hampton Inn....should we...

Stay near Universal and go there for the day?

or

Stay at the beach (which hotel)

or

GO BACK TO DISNEY??

Any suggestions are appreciated!

We just returned last week from our cruise. We left Disney early to stay for a day in Cocoa Beach and deeply regretted it. Although our hotel was great (Hampton Inn), we didn't like the Cocoa Beach area at all. Too many tatoo shops, drugstores, run-down bars, etc... The beach near the hotel was deserted and a bit overgrown. The biggest thing to do last Saturday night was to drive to Merritt Island and go to Super Walmart! The front desk receptionist admitted to my DH that there really wasn't a lot to do (especially with a baby!). Next time we are going to stay at Disney until the morning of our cruise and then just drive to the Port in the morning. Therefore my vote is stay at Disney for as long as possible! We also enjoy Universal, so I would recommend this as well but I vote for Disney though because we love it more!

We're staying at the Pop Century. We figure, that way we will only be there for 1 day and we will be able to look at the hotel. No park trips so we don't have to worry about that. We did get the free minature golf and will be dining at Chef Mickey's Friday night (next week, finally!).
We plan to hit the Disney outlet stores on the way in, get to the resort around noon, let the boy play in the water for a while, wander around the resort, play minature golf and then head to eat with Mickey. The next morning before heading to the port, we'll stop by Downtown Disney and get any essentials we may have missed.
We are so ready to go. We couldn't help but tack the extra Disney day onto the trip.

Having driven from the Disney area to Cocoa Beach the night before, I'd agree with the others to go ahead and stay in the Disney area. I was a fairly easy drive and would not have minded it in the morning of our cruise. If you consider staying at the new Ron Jon resort, that might sway me a bit because it looks pretty entertaining and relaxing.
