Where to Stay

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on the Anaheim Majestic Garden hotel?

We stayed there numerous times when it was the Anaheim Sheraton Castle. It was our go to, great prices, clean rooms, and a free shuttle, but I haven't been since it changed to the Majestic Garden.

Is that the one they were building next to the Red Lion?

I think it's on the other side of Harbor...it shares a parking lot with Springhill suites, faces the back of Cars land. They're building a big parking structure in between it and the convention center.

We always stay at the Candy Cane. It is very clean, super close, free parking, free breakfast, and great staff.

It's under your budget, most likely, but we generally stay at the Tropicana Inn and Suites. It is a motel, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the customer service we've received there has always been great. You can request a king room, and I believe the king rooms are (for the most part) over the parking lot, and they have balconies (some of which face the park, therefore also fireworks). There's no guarantee on where your room will be, but as I said, the hotel staff has always been great about fulfilling our requests.

I tentatively booked the Tropicana through Orbitz because there were some decent deals. It's free to cancel so I'm going to keep looking around, but thanks for the input!

I'm still considering the Candy Cane as well - it's about $130 more than what I would pay for Tropicana. Not sure if it's worth that!

If you start looking now, you might be able to get the Residence Inn/Anaheim Resort for around $200/night. It's awesome - brand new in August, super modern, everything is at least a 1 bed suite. Great breakfast in the morning, it's right at the corner of Harbor/Katella so maybe a 10 min walk.

Glad to read this. We just booked this for our trip in May. The reviews looked really good as did the rooms but glad to hear from someone else on here that it is a good choice.

We use to go there a lot when it was the Sheraton Anaheim and continued to go when they switched to the Majestic Garden but the experience kept getting worse and worse and our last stay there was awful. I would not recommend anyone go there. But I do recommend the Hotel Indigo and the walk is not bad at all. My wife and I stay there often and always walk back and forth to Disneyland and it only takes around 10 minutes. 15 on the walk home after walking all day at Disneyland.

Thanks! A lot of the reviews I've read seems like the quality has declined lately. Thanks for your feedback. I'll check out the Hotel Indigo too!

I made the mistake of going on YELP and came across quite a few horror stories about roaches at the Tropicana. Now I am seriously reconsidering that choice. EEK!

We have stayed at the Tropicana 4 times now, and have never seen roaches. I'm not saying it never happens, but if it was a consistent problem I think we would have experienced it at least once over those 4 trips.

We have also stayed three times at the Tropicana and never had a roach siting. I hate them, too, but actually the only place I've ever seen a roach in CA is when one flew at me near Splash Mountain in Disneyland!

We like the pool area at the Tropicana and it's large hot tub is very nice and big enough to float/swim in!

We have also enjoyed the Fairfield Inn which is a few doors down behind the new Panera Bread.

There are so many affordable hotels lining the streets around Disneyland, but we have returned to the Tropicana because it's so close and at the end of the long day, it's great to be back in our cool room relaxing within 10 minutes of leaving the park!

Also WDW vets who were researching our first DL stay about 6 months ago. We stayed at the Park Vue Inn the first couple nights of our stay (before we moved to the GCH) because of the proximity to the parks and the reviews on here and Trip Advisor. It was a little more expensive than some of the others we looked at, but I am glad we decided to go with it! It is right across the street from the entrance to DL and a very easy walk to the parks. It was very clean, and attractively decorated. We had no issue with noise, but I had requested 2nd floor near the back and that is what we got. The breakfast was good for a continental breakfast and the pool was never busy. We would definitely stay there again.

I have a friend who swears by the Tropicana and stays thre every year. Last week a friend of hers stayed there and they did have roaches in their room. My friend was shocked since in 10 years they've never had a problem there.

Alas, due to the new Disneyland Eastern Gateway being built behind the Hotel, the construction has caused some issues in the area. Nothing bad, just things looking for a new home.

Another vote for Park Vue - the location CAN'T be beat! And for other, non-honeymooners, reading this - they offer rooms with bunk beds which is a HUGE plus with my family of 4 with two different-gendered teenagers (I don't like making them sleep together at this point). The breakfast includes hot and cold items - plenty to fill you up. There is a frig and microwave in the room (at least in ours) - we saved a bundle bringing food to the parks with us AND heating up leftovers a couple nights. Also used the pool, hot tub and laundry room - very happy with that!

We got AAA because it saved us $20 a night on the room so it ended up worth it for the cost.
