Looking for advice or suggestions on where to stay overnight on our way down next May. It will be an overnight stop. We are leaving from Cincinnati. We do not want to overnight at a Walmart. Would like to know of potential places south of Atlanta but before we get to the Florida state line. We would prefer to drive a longer distance on the first day and a shorter on the second. We will be driving our Class C with the small trailer behind it for the golf cart or the car hauler with the Golf Cart and Impala on it.....haven't decided on if we will bring the Impala or not.

Hockeytchr,

I don't come that way but I would suggest you find a few places and then research them on-line. I like to use the website www.rvparkreviews.com

I'm sure there are other websites like it to use.

My one unsolicited piece of advice is make sure you get through Atlanta (or around it or however) before, say, 330pm. There may be construction downtown still and traffic in Atlanta is a terror anyway. The evening rush hour is something to avoid.

PS - hey since you're from Cincinnati, two nights ago I spent one night at Winton Woods Campground which is a Hamilton County park (huge). It's southwest of the I75/I275 interchange. Ever heard of it or stayed there? We were there only 1 night but it was very nice.

That is my typical stopping place too (from St Louis). I'll post up the places we have stayed and my thoughts when I get home from work. There are several closer to the Fl line that are nice.

High Falls State Park or Eagles Roost RV Park?

From Perry GA is a pretty easy drive.

An hour south of Atlanta is Forsyth KOA. It is an easy on/off stop. 2 hours south of there is Southern Gates in Arabi Ga. Also easy on/off.

Apparently some of the places we have stayed are closed. One of them we liked in Valdosta is no longer in business, but Eagle's Roost is still there. Nice Flea market next door and just up towards the exit is an outlet mall.

Tifton has a KOA that is decent for an overnight. I think it used to be called Amy's, but looks like it is Tifton KOA now. Nothing special, but it worked well for an easy on and off.

We've also stayed at Twin Oaks near Perry (a little south actually). I don't remember anything special around the campground, but it had a nice pool and caters to the "Florida traveler" business.

I'm typically going for easy on and off, flat so I don't have to unhitch to level and not scary.

We tend to stay at River Park in Valdosta. It's nothing special but easy on off at exit 18, and a publix is close by. Fine for over night. Right now I would steer away from Forsyth KOA. It is right in the middle of the construction on 75 South. If you get that far you want to get yourself out of the construction before you stop. North of Tifton at exit 82 is Carroll's sausage. I have not stayed there but it looks ok for an overnight and only overnight. It's a big field with hook ups and paved sites. Am not sure how much is around it.

Yes, we have stayed at Winton Woods, we did this past spring to "break in" the rv. It's a pretty nice park close to the city. Our rv is our second camping unit, our other unit is a 38 foot camper set up on a permanent site out east of Cincinnati in Adams County Ohio. We camp out east as much as we can so we can ride our side by sides and enjoy the countryside. I recommend Winton Woods for anyone who needs a campsite near the Cincinnati Area in other forums etc often.

I will look into these suggestions..... thank you to all who have replied. I haven't been on here too much...... got to get out to our permanent campsite last weekend. I had to.....these last few days of the grading quarter, the full moon, and parent/teacher conferences have stressed me and pushed me to my limits. Can't wait to head out this weekend to the permanent site for the Halloween Festivities.

Is this the one opposite Eagle's Roost, the KOA? We stayed there once, not bad, now back to answer OP, the avatar pic is from Eagles Roost the last time down, not a bad overnight stop, the one across the road was a koa, stayed once at Tifton KOA, interior roads were bad and sites were kinda washed out and rutted, but not a bad overnight stop.
