This past April we rented points at akl and lOved it
I figure I will always rent points. If available I want to stay at beach club or boardwalk. But in case their not available I'm looking at okw.
I read that u can normally always get a studio there

But my question is, is old key west resort a lot better the port Orleans river side?
Trying to decide what will be more fun.
My kids will be 10,7,2. All girls.
They love staying at hotels and love pools.
Just want to get ideas about if I had to decide between these 2 which would be better kid experience? They love the hotel experience almost as much as parks.
Thanks

Renting points simply doesn't make sense for us. As a family of 5, in most DVC resorts it would mean a 2 bedroom-- ballpark 350 points in August. (yes, I've done my homework. It just doesn't make sense for my family.)

POR would definitely work for your family, since any of your girls could be comfortable in the Murphy Bed. My 15 year old son is way too big for it.

We tried the Beach Club for the first time last summer, and are fans for life!! We loved the resort, loved the very, very short walk to Epcot and the delightful boatride to DHS, and my kids were over the moon excited about StormAlong Bay. (My 13 year old daughter gushed to friends: "The pool is so big it has its own map!!!")

The room / bed are much better at OKW. I've stayed at both besides being a DVC owner at OKW.

We stayed at OKW last October (but in a one-bedroom not a studio) and loved it. We haven't stayed at POR, so I can't compare the two. Our kids (10 and 8 at the time) absolutely loved the main pool and the pool activities were tons of fun. Because OKW is a DVC resort, there's also a community hall with activities for families (crafts, video games, etc) very close to the pool. There isn't a food court and the CS restaurant only has a few picnic tables for seating, but the TS restaurant (Olivia's) is wonderful. We enjoyed the laid back feel of OKW and the kids really want to go back. We rode a surrey bike around POR and the grounds were lovely also.

In terms of rooms, I assume your youngest will still be in a pack and play, so the two queen beds in an OKW studio would work for you. You'd have a kitchenette in the room. We loved the one-bedroom, and it has a sofa sleeper as well as a sleeper chair, which would be great when your 3 kids are all over 3. But it is a huge cost increase over a studio.

When your kids are all over 3, the non-DVC rooms at BC would probably be better than a BCV studio for you because the regular rooms offer a bed for a 5th person that DVC studios don't. Just something to keep in mind!

Okw is great larger rooms, microwave and really beautiful resort. Has a nice pool and feels very relaxed. I would choose OKw for sure

A studio at OKW compared to a room at POR would be a pretty close race. The studio would give you the kitchenette, with 3 kids that would be handy, but POR would include daily maid service, which as a mom myself I consider very important. I would just look at photos and read lots of reports and see which theme appeals to you more. The only other thing I would add is the buses at OKW aren't as crowded as POR, that might be something else to consider too. Otherwise I think you guys would have fun either way! :thumbsup2
