Ok so I am a complete newbie but have been browsing the threads for about a month. Me and the DF are planning on having our ceremony at the WP and hopefully our reception at the GF- which part TBD based on how many guest- We are hoping for a May 2013 wedding.

My question is for either previous DFTW brides our ones who have starting planning.. Where have most people stayed, obviously I would want to stay at the GF, but I know prices start around $500 a night-

Does anyone have any other Disney resort recommendations? And if so, was it a huge hassle to get from point A to B if your ceremony was at WP and reception at GF??

We stayed at POR for our Escape wedding at the WP and cake cutting at the GF in June. It was not a pain at all. The limo picked up the guys at an off-property condo and took them to the WP then picked up the girls at POR and took us to the GF to get Cinderella's carriage. Our guests parked at the WP and while we were getting pictures taken, the limo made two trips from the WP to the GF with our guests. Following the cake cutting, we had more pics taken and the limo returned guests to the WP parking lot and then picked us back up at the GF and took us back to POR for more pics. It wasn't a hassle at all.

If you are having a larger wedding, you might want to look into some form of transportation for your guests from the WP to the GF. If you are having a smaller wedding, the limo will make multiple trips without a problem.

If you are doing the wishes package, you get a free comp night at any resort if your guests book a certain number of rooms, so GF might be an option in that case.

May be a stupid question...but what is POR? Sorry- like I said I am a complete newbie at all this! :confused3

if you have your heart set on staying at the GF, if you book during a promotion you can get it for $300+/night :thumbsup2

POR is Port Orleans Riverside, it is a moderate.

I'd suggest staying at a DVC (Disney vacation club) location. The rooms are a bit bigger and come with kitchens (kitchenettes if you rent a studio room). There is more to do at the resorts and you can generally get the room for less than the cost of a deluxe room. You can rent points from an owner. There is a point rental forum here on the Dis or if you feel more comfortable going through a company there is the Timeshare store and one other place...I forget the exact name but it is a man's name and the company advertises here on the Dis so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I prefer Animal Kingdom Villas, the kidani village. It is quiet and relaxing with lots to do. We are staying there for the last few days of our trip.

If you don't want to go the DVC route and don't want to pay over $300/night then maybe try a moderate resort. Port orleans riverside and port orleans french quarter are both nice and romantic. Caribbean beach resort is more family-oriented. We stay at CBR often because we have 3 kids, in my experience it has the biggest kid population out of all of the moderate resorts, probably because of the cool pirate pool and pirate rooms. Coronado is pretty cool and doesn't seem to have too many kids. It is more of an adult resort and they host conventions. They have good nightlife there too.

Good luck choosing, there are so many options!
