So we're planning next years trip and i'm wondering if you can give me your imput on where in each resort to stay.

We're spending 2 nights at POR
7 at AK and
7 at OKW

we know we want a savannah view at AK and maybe the Zebra trail section (if that's part of DVC) but where would you stay and why.

i know POR isn't DVC but where would you stay

at AKV got a standard view next to the laundry and lobby - and I LOVED It.

the view wasn't that great - more of the roof than the pool - but just loved the location.

it was so easy to go everywhere.

OKW has water, golf and woods view - you take your pick. but if this is a first time visit to OKW - then ask to be near the HH - this is now a reserved area and no longer a request.

the HH is where the action is at OKW - everything is there - community hall, main pool, boat & bike rental, boat to DTD (free), volleyball, tennis, basketball (half) courts - there are games, DVD in the community hall you can take your villa. not to mention the restuarant (olivia) and snack food (goods to go) are here too - along with the gift/grocery store

I like Alligator Bayou with the lush landscaping, more rustic. Others prefer the Mansions with the more sculptured look. Either way POR is a wonderful resort -- Bob in the River's Roost, and I think the pool is very nice.

i'm a little confused - are there DVC unites spread through out the resorts or do they have 3 or 4 buildings?

nothing on any map says this is the dvc building and this is the cas building.

I can't wait to try OKW and AKV too. I know that summer of 09 we will probably stay at one of these. I know exactly how you feel with planning that first DVC stay......and the next one and the next. I am planning our 3rd DVC stay and I am all over the place too. :scared1:

We love POR....we have always stayed in the bayou section....my kids love the "fishing hole" and we really enjoy the laid back atmosphere....
We enjoy every aspect of POR...in my opinion you can't go wrong staying there!
Our trip in March will be our "first trip home to Saratoga Springs" so I can't comment on the DVC units yet!
Enjoy your trip

AKV is putting up another building strictly for DVC units, called Kadani Village. The Jambo House, which is the main building has converted the top floors to DVC units as well, I believe these do not have two bathrooms in the one bedroom units, but the ones in Kidani will. Someone out there please correct me if I'm giving wrong info here (thanks :)

OKW is ALL DVC units, HH stands for the Hospitality House, which is just the main area of the entire resort, where the store/lobby/restaurant/main pool, etc. are located and you can say you want to stay in that area when you make your ressie.

As you know POR has no DVC units, but is a beautiful moderate resort, ours of choice when/if we stay in a moderate part of our visit. Coronado Springs is another gorgeous, non DVC moderate resort.

the top 2 floors 5th and 6th are now DVC units.

can we pool hop to coronado springs while staying at POR or is that a no no

only when staying DVC on points. There is still some days that are blacked out then.
