Where to stay with (older) parents?

I am trying to put together a trip this fall with my 3 DD's and my (elderly) parents. I know they will need to be in wheelchairs in the parks, but they would like to avoid it in the resorts if at all possible. Which is the best resort to stay in that will help save them as many steps as possible? I know we will use Disney transportation most of the time and also will probably have our evening meal in the resort most of the time as well. Which locations will be best so they do not have so far to walk. I am wanting two connecting rooms as well. Do all the resorts offer that? Thanks for all your help. These boards are GREAT!

If you don't want them to have to do to much walking at the resort, to get to food, pools and transport the best might be a standard or pool view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Most of the other resorts have two forms of transport that you need to take. Either Bus and Boat, or bus and monorail. These transports are sometimes at opposite ends of the resort. The AKL has only buses and if you got a standard or pool view and requested, for medical reasons to be near the bus stop you would also be close to access to the 3 restaurants and the pool.

I would pick whichever deluxe resort appeals to you most and then request a room explaining that you need to have a short walk for your parents. I think the Polynesian, CR, GF and AKL have rooms that would work well. Not sure about BWI as we've never stayed there. At the Y&B Clubs I think it is harder to avoid longer walks.

Actually daannzzz, at the Polynesian, the GF and the CR Tower the monorail and bus stops are very close to each other. The restaurants are close to each other and the transportation stops, too. At all three you need only one form of transportation to MK and Epcot...the monorail. To go to MGM and AK you can take the bus if you don't have a car.

Went to WDW last August with my grandma who is 88 we stayed at the Polynesian, she loved it . We stayed concierge, first floor GV(there was an elevator to concierge level) There was a patio where she could sit and people watch and read the newspaper. The only downfall was one day it rained and the building Hawaii was farther from the lobby (GCH), and for some reason when we got off of the bus one day (it was also raining LOL) there was no overhang.

The Grand Floridian looked like a beautiful resort to stay at, When I called CRO I just made sure to let them know I had an elderly guest with our party and they helped wherever they could. Hope this helps, They will love WDW
