Hi There...
We are planning a short jaunt to Williamsburg/Busch Gardens in a few weeks. Very Last Minute!
Anyway,
does any one have a suggestion as to where to stay for little $$ ?
Not looking for anything more than a place to sleep....Gotta save the rest of the $$ for the WDW trips...LOL..

Thanks for anyone who can offer suggestions!

After reading great reviews of the Quality Inn Lord Paget on the Trip Advisor site jeafl mentioned, we stayed there for 4 nights in April. Loved it. I got it for I think $64 or $69/night. I booked it online through their site and had a AAA discount.

It was a spacious room, nicely furnished. Pool wasn't open yet but they were filling it that weekend. Nice grounds. Best of all, the extensive continental breakfast. Cereals, toast, bagels, pastries - plenty for the two adults and two young kids in our family.

Havea good trip! :D

We have stayed at the Patrick Henry Inn (Best Western) and Four Points (Sheraton). We liked these two places because they are adjacent to the historic area and we could just walk to it. We also enjoyed the Days Inn-Historic Area on Bypass road. Not within walking distance, but we got a deal on the room.

Hope this is helpful and that you have a great time!

Stay away from the Radisson. We went there because we read it was all newly refurbished. What a dump! :( We were very disappointed. On our last morning, we didn't even have hot water.

The Hilton Garden Inn looks very nice (and fairly new). I'd check that one out.

We were there last Sept. (during the hurricane) and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. It is a new hotel and it is gorgeous! I think we payed 55.00. I wish I could tell you the adress because I know there is more than one, but it is the newest one that chain has there, and it is on the main road going into Williamsburg.

I second the recommendation for the Patrick Henry. We stayed there in 02 and 03 and really liked it.

This past May we stayed at the Quality Suites, there were 6 of us so we needed something bigger than a standard hotel room. It was a 1-bedroom suite. 2dbl beds and tv in the bedroom and a pullout couch and tv in the living room. Hot breakfast buffet was included.

I believe the rate was not much over $100 a night.

When we go, we say in a little town caled "Lightfoot," Virginia. It's about 15 min. up I-64 from WIllimasburg and we've found the rates there to be ultra cheap, even in the peak season ($49 was what we paid last time). There is a Sleep Inn there that we stay at, plus some of the other chains have locations there. It's a growing town so there may be more there now. I think there was a Hampton Inn, (might have been Holiday Inn Express). I'd pick one or two major chains and see if they have a lightfoot location.

There's also a Sleep Inn in Williamsburg itself that I like -- it's not right on the historic area so you'd have to drive there, but it is close to lots of restaurants, etc. I can't remember the address right off, but if I remember correctly, it's the only Sleep Inn in Williamsburg. Have fun.

We just got back from Williamsburg a month ago. It's not the cheapest hotel, but we stayed at the Marriott Williamsburg for a conference and it was right next door to Busch Gardens. We paid $90/night. It was a nice hotel with a large pool and had easy access to the interstate and other roads to Jamestown, Yorktown, and Colonial Williamsburg.

Hmmmm...I got the Radisson Fort Magruder on Priceline for my stay 2 weeks ago, and I thought the room was very nice. It smelled of new carpet and linens.

You got lucky. When we checked in, they first tried to give us a room right down the hall from the check-in desk. The room was dark, damp, had peeling wallpaper, beds were lower then my knees and very worn. It was horrible. We complained and they moved us to the newer section. The room was a nicer, but still had the dampness and smelled a little off. There was a dehumidifier in the room, which housekeeping NEVER emptied. We emptied it multiple times over our 2 night stay. Our friends were in the room next to us and the blow dryer went up in flames while in use. Luckily, I had brought my own, so we shared. The restaurant was only open for dinner, and although the in-room materials claimed to have room service, the phones were never answered. The morning of checkout, we had no hot water. We had a miserable stay.

Tina - your story reminds me of a stay at a Ramada Inn once. Worn furniture and bedding, thin walls so you heard everything outside, and overall dark and gloomy. To add injury to insult, when I was showering, the water instantaneously went from cool to scalding. Fortunately we stayed there only one night and we haven't stayed in a Ramada since.

We stayed at Country Inn & Suites, a few years ago. I don't remember how much it was, but I know it was less than $75 a night. It was pretty nice and not far from everything.

I live in Norfolk, and we usually get season's passes to BG, except not this year, this year is WDW! Anyways, it takes us about 40 minutes to get to BG from Norfolk. (As long as the tunnel isn't backed up!) But you might want to consider a hotel in Newport News or Hampton that might be cheaper than in Colonial Williamsburg, and then you can not only do Colonial Williamsburg, BG (Water Country is lots of fun too!), but you can visit Virginia Beach and Norfolk. I'd recommend the Ghost Walk in Colonial Williamsburg too. And the candy store.

Hope this helps!

I stayed there 2 years ago, and thought the room to be very nice! All done in expensive cherry wood furniture!...and I consider myself a deluxe snob! I think I paid $70/night with the entertainment rate! Very well worth the money!

We have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites (suites come with a full kitchen) and Embassy Suites. All were very nice.
