Where to stay on gulf side

We will be driving down from Wisconsin and are looking to stay somewhere on the Gulf the day before arriving at Disney. I want to stay as close to Orlando as possivle so the drive in on the first day would be less than an hour or so hopefully. Any ideas out there.

Well most people would recommend the Clearwater Beach area since it's directly west of Tampa and is directly on the Gulf. But it's more than an hour away; closer to two hours. Nowhere directly on the Gulf is within an hour of Disney.
