Am already planning my next trip to Disney World and am wondering where to stay. I'm leaning towards the Wilderness Lodge, since I love this resort so much, but am wondering if I should try something new. This will be a solo trip. Which of the resorts in the poll would you stay at and why? I have to admit that I like a resort that does not have alot of bus stops or is so spread out that it takes awhile to get anywhere. The deluxes are an option if I can get a discount code or a great deal at.

Thanks in advance!!!

I voted the Beach Club. I love its theaming and its location. It doesn't take long to get to Epcot and MGM (I actually found walking quicker than the boat, but the boat ride is relaxing). I love being able to walk over to the Boardwalk on an evening or just sitting on the beach on one of the swing seats. The resort although big I didn't think it took long to get anywhere (we stayed in a room at the far end of the BCV and it didn't take us long to get to places.) I love the restaurants there as well.

If you are single - do you like PI - then the SSR next door to DD is opened.

Yes it is a dvc resort - but you can still rent from CRO (if you want to pay) or go rent from a DVC member.

You can also rent BWV, BCV, VWL, OKW from a DVC member.

Studios are great for singles - especially - BWV, BCV, VWL and SSR - they have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa - so they are pretty nice for singles.

Since you said you are going solo I voted for POFQ becasue the reosrt is small and quite comfortable alone. I would also consider WL or WLV Studio for a solo trip for location to MK and the central lobby - which would give you a place to sit and people watch. Otherwise I would not vote for WL or WLV studio - except maybe for a December trip!

When are you going? Have a great trip!!!

Totally forgot about the Villas. I have a co-worker who just joined the DVC, so that's definitely an option. I'm not one for PI, so I'd stay at either the Boardwalk, Beach Club or Wilderness Villas.

My next trip is planned for early December of 2005.

I would say either stick with the Wilderness Lodge or give Animal Kingdom Lodge a try! :)

I voted for CR. I've stayed there a bunch of times and it is nice. I also picked POFQ although, I like POR better.

I've never stayed at AKL but I picked that because I really want to.

Have you considered the Swan or Dolphin? Walking distance to the Boardwalk, Epcot and MGM I hear. And they often run great specials...

Since you are traveling solo I would recommend the BW Inn which is a relatively small hotel in the middle of the action yet it is very quiet on the Inn side. It is a great hotel and you are close to everything. So many choices for dinner and there is all kinds of entertainment there. I also like the Yacht Club and the BC or the BCV or BWV's.They are so close to MGM and Epcot which I think would be especially good parks to tour solo. I would skip the WL this time unless you are into more of an isolated trip. I love the Lodge but it would be way too quiet for me to be there alone. I would rather be at an Epcot resort. JMO. Enjoy

I voted for the Contemporary. But I'm staying at AKL for my next trip! If you haven't stayed there, you might try it if you love WL. I had a hard time choosing between the two; they're similar in many ways. But I know I'll just love the animals!

I like the Polynesian, even by myself, because I enjoy lying on the hammock reading a book, only getting up to get wet in the pool and refresh my Mai Tai. That, to me, is PARADISE.

Second choice would be the Grand Floridian. I would lounge on the beach under one of their blue and white striped canopies and read. Also, I would never be able to get my DH to stay there, so the only way I could go is by myself!;)

I've been a die-hard Wilderness Lodge fan for many years now, but we just got back from BCV and AKL, and I may have a whole new Top Two. We rented points from a DVC member, and just loved the Beach Club. Being able to walk to/from Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios was an amazing benefit, and helped cut down on waiting for busses. So, I thought I had a new #1.

But, THEN, we moved to Animal Kingdom Lodge, and just went crazy! Watching animals, hidden mickey hunting, eating, eating, eating... it's all there!

Anyway, I don't know WHICH is my favorite now... however, I voted for AKL. I especially recommend it if you're looking for a quieter stay. There are lots of little nooks where you can just sit and watch the savannas. Plus, it's a great opportunity to talk with Cast Members. We met lots of friendly folks from South Africa and Botswana, and had a great time chatting with them all.

Wow, this is a tough choice! So many great places to stay!! I've traveled to WDW solo 4 other times, so being there alone is not a big deal. Sometimes it's nice to be quiet for awhile after being in the parks. Any other recommendations?

Going by your signature, you've stayed at several places already. So, my suggestion is to stay at AKL. It really is beautiful, and quite a different experience. Even if you get a room without a savannah view, there are plenty of places to watch the animals.

There's plenty to do at AKL, it's not spread out, and the pool is great. After a day at the park, Boma and Jiko are great places to dine. There are several seating areas that give you a view of the savannah too. Evenings, they have the story time outside by the fire, and the Zawadi marketplace store is by far the best shop I've seen in a resort.

Although I love the WL the most, I think you'll like venturing out to AKL. Even though it's somewhat secluded by itself, transportation isn't a hassle at all. Plus the fact that at the parks, the AKL bus stop is usually the closest to the exit which is great when you have tired tired feet! :)

I voted POFQ, because it's my fav, even though my name is 'Yacht Club Guy'. You will enjoy it very much... It is a lower priced resort, and very wonderful. Scince you like the WL, you may also enjoy the AKL, same style of buildings, and maybe you will have a new favorite after that!
Have fun!

Wilderness Lodge is the BEST resort at WDW.... Walt would agree ::yes::
