Hi - I need to find a hotel for one night before we fly home from a cruise in February. Since we have a 9am flight, I would prefer to be near the airport.

Does anyone recommend a hotel that is pretty affordable and clean around the airport?

Thanks so much!
Heather

Have you priced the Hyatt in the airport?? Or what price range are you looking for?

Kilee: I did price the Hyatt. Think it is around $230 for the night. Have to check and make sure that the room can sleep can five though.

Would prefer not to spend that much for a bed for one night, but will for the convenience if other hotels are similar in price but further away.

Any other suggestions?

Heather

We just stayed at Marriott two nights, one coming and one going. The rates were $109 and $99 each night. Marriott just finished a complete rehab. Rooms were very nice. Nice indoor/outdoor pool was great for a quick relaxing swim. And even with planes flying overhead, we never heard them in our room.

Hi Heather,
We just stayed at the Rennaisance. Very close to the airport with free shuttle back and forth. I bid on it for $59/night on Hotwire. I would not have paid rack rate for it which would have been $180 before tax. But for $59 it was alright. When I bid, it was a 3.5* hotel but was dropped to a 3* the week before I arrived and I could see why. There was alot of construction going on. Our floor had some issues (something leaked onto the carpet and they had high powered fans on the 3rd floor), but our room was nice. It was clean. The bathroom was clean but needed a facelift---looked like it was out of the 80's.

The staff was very nice and very polite. They really made the stay better. You can read my review (with pics) here :

Also, another DIS'er recently reviewed Rennaisance and she seems to have gotten a new/modernized room and felt more positive than I did about her review :

She also got an even better rate on Priceline than I did on Hotwire. So if you can get the Rennaisance for these prices, I'd say it's a viable option, but don't pay full price. Until this hotel is fully remodeled I don't consider it worth the rack rates. But for convenience to the airport it's very good.

We stayed at the Hawthorne Suites near the Airport. The complimentory breakfast was awesome. The rooms were clean and the staff was helpful.

I give it a double thumbs up.:goodvibes

I bid Priceline at the 3* level and generally get the Marriott for around $50. If I bid 2 1/2 * I get the Amerisuites for $40 to $45. Check out biddingfortravel.com to get an idea of winning bids. They can be very picky over there, but are great for keeping folks informed about Priceline.

Stay away from the Winngate Inn. My sister just stayed there and said while it was ok for one night, she definitely would not book it again. She was very surprised as all the reviews were good.

Oh no, did she have problems there? I got Wingate by the airport for my hotel stay via Hotwire and have never been there before . . .

I just stayed there for a business trip. It was fine and I had no complaints. Breaky was nothing special. The hotel was clean.
