I am reserving two studios in August, would it be better to stay at Old Key West or Wilderness Lodge? There will be four adults and four children (ages 5 and 9). I really want this trip to be special for everyone, especially the kids!Member services said that VWL were beautiful, but the pictures on the internet did not impress me at all(the rooms or the pool). I wish there were better discriptions of what each resort had to offer in detail. If there is, then I must not have received it. Is there only one pool at VWL? Member services said it had a theme to it, but again in the picture it looked pretty regular to me. It did not look like it had a theme. I own at BWV, but have never once had the opportunity to stay there! It is always booked. Go figure! Please help.

Our home is BWV also and we are staying at the VWL in May. I felt as you do, the pictures didn't impress me. I think you may have a hard time getting ressies at the BWV's. So VWL may be your next choice. check out these websites...www.3-2.com/FWL/ and wdwig.com/faq_wl.htm I knowthats the "middle" of the site, but they do have great pics!! You can also try www.wdwmagic.com/resorts Have Fun!!

Our family stayed at the VWL this past Dec and really loved it. We stayed in a 2bdrm with our 2 grandsons aged 5 and 2 and their mother and father, all I can say is WOW. We always stay at BWV or OKW and even though we like BWV the best VWL was really great. You can catch the boat in the morning to MK and the atmosphere at the lodge is great along with great food and the quiet pool and the hot tub was really wonderful, you can always go to the pool at the lodge but we found that we liked the quiet pool better...I say go for it and go to the VWL you will love it...Have a great time and the kids will really like it there...Marianne.. PS They also have free tours, a food tasting one and a tour of the lodge check at the front desk...

The photos I've seen of VWL on the Web don't do the rooms justice! I visited VWL two weeks ago. I, too, wondered how the rooms looked after seeing photos posted on various Web sites. I must tell you the rooms are lovely! The cabin decor is very well done. The photos I've seen make the decor and colors look garish, but they very attractive in person. If you want more details, let me know and I'll be happy to describe what I saw.

I don't know how well the 2 families get along but for about the same amount of points you will use for 2 VWL studios, you can get a 2BR at OKW. You will have almost 2 times the floor space, 1300+ sq ft vs. 356 x 2, and the advantage of a full kitchen, laundry and that great whirlpool tub. But a warning, once you stay in an OKW 2 BR you will have a very hard time going back to a studio.

I completely agree w/KMarie's reply! I saw pictures of the VWL, and thought "yuck" I would never want to stay there, but then when we were in WDW, we had breakfast at Artist Point at WL, and I said to dh, come on lets atleast check them out. Well, we walked over to the VWL, and we looked at the rooms, we loved them! DH was ready to sign the dotted line, for an add on!!! (we own at okw, want to add on, but waiting for BCV!!!)
The pictures by no means do the VWL justice. They are very nice, and the surroundings are beautiful! :)

I visited WLV in January - and they are really beautiful. The pictures really don't do them justice at all - and the surroundings don't come into play when you see just the pictures. If studios are absolutely what you want to stay in, and you have the points, WLV will not disappoint you. However, if for the same points you can get a 2BR at OKW, I would do that. I own at OKW and BWV, and for space and luxury, you can't beat the villas at OKW. Like someone earlier posted, however, it depends on how well you and the other family get along!

For my money, WL is BY FAR the best resort on the entire WDW property. Fantastic theming, smaller size, great access. I suspect some out there may disagree with me (Hi, Rich!) but WL beats anyplace else hands down!

Thank you everyone! I am going to change my reservation to OKW 2 bedroom if there are any available August 13-19, 2001. I am excited to finally go, I bought into this sight unseen over one year ago, and cannot wait to see what my $$ bought. I am sure that I will be pleased. :D
