Can anyone recommend a good place to stay for 1 night prior to our Aulani stay next month? Does not have to be anything over the top as it will be only one night and we plan to visit Pearl Harbor and Waikiki that day so we won't be at the hotel much.

We've used the Outrigger hotel chain in Waikiki on most of our previous stays. We've used both the Outrigger Reef and the Outrigger Waikiki (where Duke's restaurant is located). Both are fine and are moderately priced (for Hawaii) but I'd say the Outrigger Waikiki is a tad nicer than the Reef (and the price may reflect that). Both are located on the beach and offer a view of Diamond Head from the beach in front of the respective properties. You would be within walking distance of a ton of shopping and restaurants at either hotel. And as I mentioned, Duke's Restaurant is located on the lobby level of the Waikiki which would save you a drive into the city if you had plans to eat there. Not sure how much parking would run as we've only ever done transfers or taxis when staying in Waikiki.

We also enjoyed one night at the Outrigger Waikiki. Dukes is great, and you can enjoy a walk on the beach or down the street for sightseeing. Our room was newly renovated when we were there two years ago, and it was lovely.

We stayed at Hilton Hawaiian Village one night before taking the Pride of America cruise (stayed at Aulani post cruise). We were in the Kalia Tower and asked for a high floor to see the ocean which we had but it was not beach side. It was a okay hotel room and the beach short walk away.

Hyatt Place in Waikiki.

Very nice hotel, comp. breakfast and 2 blocks from Waikiki Beach.

I suggest going to Pearl Harbor while your at Aulani. You are much closer while at Aulani and traffic gets real bad to/from Waikiki and other parts of island

Outrigger has a hotel within a mile of the airport and the Best Western is decent as well. I think both have a free shuttle. I would not go into Waikiki just for the single night but I would it you had 2 nights or more.

Thanks everyone we ended up getting a room at the Outrigger off price-line for $96. Not bad!

We already have our tickets to Pearl Harbor. We plan to visit Pearl Harbor directly from the airport.

:thumbsup2 That's an awesome price!! Which Outrigger did you end up with? Either way, Enjoy!!

Outrigger Ohana Waikiki West. Not beach front or anything but for one night it will do and the price was perfect. We stayed at an Outrigger in Maui last summer and enjoyed or time so I'm sure this will do well for the night!
