I am considering an early December trip. WE could get real good airfare right now with SW. We went last Dec. and had a fabulous time and stayed in a 1 bedroom at OKW. We could NOT afford do this so soon again. What is a good budget option? I'm not sure I could do the All Stars, the rooms just look tiny and cramped, but really want to present this idea in a way that would be "appealing" to DH (note: not expensive!). Otherwise, he would not even consider it. ANy ideas? Also, I am not interested in staying offsite. Thanks for any ideas!

I guess the important question is, what do you consider expensive?

Do you have an AP or any other discount?

The cabins could be a good choice, because you would have the kitchen which would save money on food.

Have you explored buying points for one of the Home Away from Homes?

Or what if you planned the trip as a suprise?

Well, how many of you are traveling? What ages for any children?
The All stars can only hold 4, plus a crib.

I haven't stayed there, but have many friends who have. They like that resort very much.

I guess it depends on what you "expect" from your vacation, how "delux" of accomodation you like, and your budget.

It's kind of hard to offer advice w/out knowing much about your family and how you like to travel.

My advise, is first decide on how much in total you want to spend, and then budget from there. Your air will be a fixed cost. Maybe if you stick to food court and/or keep food in your room, you can select a moderate hotel. If you prefer resturants, then spend less on the hotel and choose an All Stars (or Pop Century).

Lots of people make a supermarket stop and keep a cooler in their room with b/fast foods, sandwich stuff, & other snacks to cut down on the food cost. Those styrofome coolers are just a few dollars.

Good luck,

I guess I'm wondering about moderates? We are a family of two adults and two children 8 and 5. I know we could fit into the All Stars, but I think they are just too small. How do the moderates compare? How much do they run a night? Are the package deals that Disney is offering good deals? We can fly down for a little over $700, so I wonder if I could keep the trip under 2000, or maybe 1500? Not including food I know - we usually don't budget food and just do what we want, except for water bottles, which we buy ahead of time.

Thanks again!

The size difference in a room at a value resort and a moderate resort room is not really that much, I hate to put a damper on things, but it is true. CBR has the largest rooms out of all the moderates so if the room size is a big concern you might want to consider CBR.
Do you have an AP? There are rates out there for values at $49.00 per night and moderates at $79.00 per night, I am not sure if there are available for your dates. Do you also have to buy park passes from the $2,000? How many nights do you want to stay?
I would first call and get available rates and then take it from there weighing in all the factors: passes, # of nights, etc.
Good luck!

We have stayed at the Music at least 4 - 5 times, and this summer we stayed at the Movies for 9 nts. We just got home 8/23. This trip there was me, DH, DD14 ,And step GD14. We had a GREAT time , other than the RAIN.lol. We were hardly in our room. In fact we had planned on 2 rooms with teens, but in the end we save d a lot just having 1 room. Husband gets up real real early, gets coffee and swims, then w e all would get up and get ready for the day. It worked out perfect. For the time you spend in your room im telling you the All Stars will be fine. Its a fun resort.Great food courts, anything you could want. Esp. for little ones. I f you want to spend more , I personally would like to stay at CBR maybe next time, if the price is right. you will have a great time , no matter where you stay. But the Movies would be great for your kids.
