Where to stay Before/After cruise in December?

We are cruising on the Wonder this new year's eve, and we want to either start or end our vacation somewhere in florida....but we NEVER go anywhere but WDW!! Do you have any suggestions? we want near the ocean( or gulf) and warmth (considering it is late Dec/early Jan, I know we will have to go south.

Please give us some suggestions, We have looked at Palm Beach, Sanibel, Boca Raton, Fort Meyers and Miami so far, but we don't know anyone who has been to these places.

We have stayed at the Marriott Harbor Beach resort in Ft. Lauderdale and we really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful place right on the ocean. My parents like Long Boat Key, near Sarasota. I'm not sure what the weather is like in Jan. Check out the Marriott website for more information.

We will also be on that cruise. We are planning to stay at Disney before the cruise but not visit any parks. We just dont know exact dates because we are having trouble finding decent flights- right now about 500 per ticket! Its very possible that we may have to cancel the cruise if prices dont drop before the final payment deadline.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will check that out. We have already visited WDW in July, so we don't want to go back again this year....I should'nt say we don't WANT to, we have just decided that we need to go to some other places before we have kids. (We'll see how long that lasts!)

the ritz carlton and the jw marriott in orlando are very nice hotels and you're away from disney complex (though near sea world and discovery cove). the spa is terrific - depending on the convention business they may have good room rates - the ritz was significantly cheaper in August than a comparable Disney property.
