Where to stay at SSR?

We're going to SSR in April. We have a 2 bedroom( requested a dedicated2 bedroom) and my parents have a studio. My parents are in their 70's and my dad walks slowly. He needs to be close to a bus stop and the main pool and food court. Which area do you think we would best for us? Thanks!

We just stayed at SSR in December in the Congress Park section. I can't vouch for the Paddock, but Congress Park was not close to the food court or the main pool. We were only there a couple days and maybe I just never figured out a shortcut to get there. I did ask at the Carriage House the fastest way to get to Artist Palette from our room, and was told to drive. It looked to me that the Springs is the closest to the main pool and food court area. Bus stops will be located all around the resort. And, if one of the quiet pools would be ok vs. the main pool, here's the view we had out our room in Congress Park. The only real inconvenience we had was getting back and forth to the food court.

Will you have a car? If your father really needs to be near a bus stop and the Artist's Palette, will he have a hard time getting around the parks? The DVC resorts usually have wheelchairs that you can borrow to use for your stay. You only have to give them a credit card to guarantee that you will return it. The w/c are first come, first served.

You can ride the bus from the nearest bus stop to the Carriage House stop by the Springs, too.

The Springs is your best bet, but specify closeness to the main buildings. Each section is huge! Congress Park would be a distant second and the Paddocks would not work at all for your dad. We stayed at the Paddocks in November and the walks to Artist's Palette were rather lengthy. I would recommend a car; the resort is very large and the signage is spotty.

Been to SSR twice and just recentley returned. Took my dad this trip and we stayed in Congress park. Even though my family loves it there, I wished we were up in the Springs section for my dad, for the reasons you mentioned.

Make the Springs your first request on your reservation as we all dont have cars on vacation.

Thanks for your replies. I will definitely request the Springs section and hopefully we'll be able to stay there. We just added points at SSR and are really looking forward to staying there!

The Springs section should definitely work out for you, when you make the reservation let them know the reason for your request and they may list it as a medical reason (which gets priority). Also any building next to a bus stop should also work out for you.
