We are driving for our first time from around Detroit Michigan area (Have always flown):thumbsup2, coming down I-75. Can anyone recommend a good, clean, moderately priced hotel around the Chattanooga area, or just outside of?

We stayed in a Fairfield Inn & Suites somewhere in the Chattanooga vicinity. I can't remember exactly which one since my dad made the reservation. I try to stick to the Marriott brand (Rewards Club member) and I find that the Fairfield's are more than adequate for a night on the road. The rooms are not huge or overly equipped, but they are sufficient for a one-night stopover. They also have a nice breakfast in the mornings. Nothing too fancy....cereals, pastries, microwavable sausage and egg biscuits, juice and coffee, yogurt...but it is free so it works.

I checked out this one https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/chafi-fairfield-inn-chattanooga/ and the rate was $76 before tax. They are 10% less if you are a AAA member.

Good luck, fellow Michigander!

Exit 5 is a very good area and the hotels there are mostly newer. It seems like almost every chain is represented there. Exit 7 has older motels that I would not recommend. Exit 1 (East Ridge) near the GA border is also older motels. Exit 11 (Ooltewah) and exits 20-27 Cleveland have a lot to choose from in all price ranges. Do not speed through Cleveland--Bradley cops are always out writing tickets.
