We are at FW for 14 nights in Jan. We are planning on moving to another RV park after that for another 30 days . Considering Tropical Palms. Hard wrapping my brain around leaving Disney bubble but financially gonna have to I am pretty sure. We are buying annual passes, so we will have parking etc.
Thoughts or suggestions? Trop palms is $75 a night. No monthly rate except 3 month stays ( I wish)

dizzy,

There are a couple suggestions. The price depends on amenities and how close to Disney they are.

Not knowing your dates, I randomly assumed arriving Sunday Jan 24 and looked for availability for 28 days.

Kissimmee KOA: http://koa.com/campgrounds/kissimmee/ priced out at about $64+tax. It's out past Tropical Palms.

Thousand Trails: http://www.rvonthego.com/florida/or...sionGUID=daa430a8-0351-08c3-5226-e1eb43b9ade1 This is a campground that is part of the Encore timeshare empire. They make some sites available for non-owner use. It is in Clermont, FL which is about a 30 minute drive from the MK toll booth. It priced out at $47 per night after taxes and fees. No specific description of the campsite though.

Turkey Lake: http://www.cityoforlando.net/parks/bill-frederick-park-turkey-lake/ is a City of Orlando park just on the north side of the Turnpike as it comes into Orlando. It's a small campground and not all sites have a sewer hookup. It's cheap $25 or so per night but no online tool so you have to call regarding availability. It's about 30 minutes to WDW.

Let us know what works out for you.

Bama Ed

PS - in Central/South Florida, the Christmas to Easter season is PRIME TIME for RV parks because of the snow birds who migrate south for the winter. So discounts that time of year are hard to come by. (If you want a discount, come back in June-August although to me it's not worth it and I'm a former West Palm Beach'er).

Thanks bama_ed! You are a legend ( at least in my RV'er mind) and I will check your suggestions for sure! I desperately want to be there for our Bday but we paid for our DD wedding and honeymoon, and that set us back.....

I have some information on Turkey lake. The name is Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake. 407-246-4486
R.V. campsites: include camping device, 4 people and 1 vehicle
Full hook up : electric, water & sewer 20.44 per night
Partial : electric and water 16.89 per night
additional person, over 4 people : 5.00 one time charge
additional vehicle charge : 5.00 one time charge
RV parking Overflow area : 13.33 per night
additional camping device, tent only : 8.89 per night

Boat rental, Thursday-Sunday 7 - 11 am only, max 3 people, 30.00 4 hrs.

We went there earlier in the week to have a look, got a small map and prices. Not something I would do in a tent, primitive camping only. No Elect. or water.

Thanks Snowmedic!!

We recommend Thousand Trails in Clermont or Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont; both on Hwy-27.

1) There you have it.
2) A firm consensus on Orlando-area campgrounds.
3) Actually, the only bad choice is staying a full week in a Wal-Mart parking lot. :cool1:

I don't know and I am just putting it out there, would it be worth joining Thousand Trails to get their pricing at that campground? Also for your trip down could save you some money as well. Have to do the math, but with a stay of 30 days, it may be worth it.

My parents stay at Winter Garden RV Resort from Jan-Mar. (http://www.wintergardenrv.com/) I don't know why I never see it mentioned on here.

It's a little cheaper than Thousand Trails and they give you reduced rates for longer stays. They pay $700-800/month.

The Thousand Trails pass is right now on sale, $100.00 off online. So for $445.00 you could stay for the month.

Ahh thanks everyone! Was offline for a couple days and come back to find so much help!!!
