Where to stay after the cruise?

I told DH what I wanted for Christmas was 4 days at WDW after our 7 night Disney cruise in July. IF he agrees, where oh where should we stay? We are DVC members, but used our points for the cruise, so this stay would be cash. Our DSs will be 14 and 15 and swimming is top priority for them! MY choices would be:

WL-our absolute favorite!! We have stayed there twice, once in the main lodge and once as DVC members in a studio. Both times our stay was perfect!

PORS-we would only want to stay in the Alligator Bayou section. Been there twice and enjoyed it. Reasonable prices when paying cash.

AKL-never been there! Something new and same price range as WL.

What would your choice be?

I voted for AKL. I have not tried it yet, but I hope to soon!

I voted for AKL. I have stayed at both AKL and WL, and they are both great! If you love WL, I think that the transition to AKL would not be a great one. They are similar in terms of room size/layout, and their great lobbies. Obviously their themes are very different! AKL gets my thumbs up for: animals at your back door (where else, besides a real safari could you get this?!), Boma and Jiko (wonderful restaurants), and great service!

We either stay at POFQ OR POR. We like both places and see no reason to stay else where.

I voted for WL. We've never stayed there but it's one of our 2 choices to stay next August after our cruise. Our other choice is the Polynesian. I like WL because of it's good location, indoor hallways, theming, and boat access in addition to busses. I also would like to try AKL some day. It looks like a beautiful resort. Since you'll be there for 4 days the transporation isn't as much of a consideration for you as will be for us, we'll only be there for 2 days.

I voted for Animal Kingdom. I figured you can stay at the VWL for the next 37 years.

Try Animal Kingdom Lodge since you haven't tried that one yet. It's absolutely beautiful and you'll really enjoy seeing the animals right outside your window! The restaurants are also very good and AKL has a gorgeous view of the 'savannah' from the pools! That's my vote! Have a magical time!!

I'm another vote for AKL! This is my favorite resort. We went 1.5 yrs ago and my 6 yr old DS keeps asking when we can go there again still! Can't say enough wonderful things. Your sons will love the pool - it is one of the largest on site. I think only SAB is larger. And plenty of places for them to explore all around the resort. Food is very good too (even Mara).
