Where to start with making "family t-shirts!"

have just been looking at a post on a different board and it reminded me that I really want to make "family t's" for our upcoming disney vacation in november.
We aren't going for anything specific, we will be going to the MVMCP one night, and it will be my dd's 1st trip, she is currently a bump so she will be about 4 months when we go so may need to make hers a baby grow of some sort????
We quite like the idea of having one for the airport and one for sometime during the holiday, possibly the MVMCP then I could make one the kids could wear at xmas? Or should I just make 1 that will do for the whole time?

was also thinking of doing vest tops for my sister and I so that they look a little more "feminine"

so where do I start??? any advice much appreciated!!!
