Hello,

My wife and I are planning an anniversary trip to Paris from Dec27th until Jan 2nd. You all have already been helpful with answering some of my initial questions and I thank you. I have two questions this go round. First, on New Years Eve, where would we enjoy ourselves more, at the Eiffel Tower or at DLP. It will be just me and my wife and we don't like to go to clubs or anything like that, mainly because we don't drink or smoke. My second question is for the time that we will be in the city of Paris I have been looking at The Elysees Union Hotel located at 44 RUE HAMELINParis, 75016 FR.
Does anyone have any thing to say about this hotel, or offer any advice and another reasonably priced hotel within walking distance to The Eiffel Tower.
Thanks again you guys.

Given your post on a DLP board I suspect you might get a slighty bias view on where to spend New Year ;)
Might be worth having a look at the trip report here that was on New Years eve.

I'm sure others will chip in and hopefully someone will know a bit about the hotel :)

Your right about the Bias opinion on where to spend New Years and I really think I'd rather be at DLP on New Years myself but because we have never been to Paris I was just wondering if there was anything really special happening at the Eiffel Tower at that time. Does DLP do anything special on Dec31st for New Years? are they open until midnight and is that when the fireworks go off. Are they usually open the next day.

DLP stays open, I believe, until 1pm on New Years Eve and they do have fireworks at midnight.
The parks are open as usual the next day.

Have you tried Tripadvisor for reviews on your hotel in Paris?

Yes I have, that's the first place I looked, and out of 1,530 hotels in Paris it ranks this one as number 268. I would say that's not to bad of a number. Do you mean that DLP is open until 1:00AM or did you really mean PM. How crowded is DLP on New Years Eve?

It is 01.00hrs on the 1st January. So guests will get to count the old year out and welcome the New Year in :goodvibes
I'd expect the crowds to be quite heavy.

I have spent the last 2 New Year's seeing it in at DLRP so might be able to help!!

The parks are busy - busier than normal so if you only have this day to see it you might end up not getting to do everything - you'll still get stuff done if you follow normal theme park rules - arrive early, do bigger rides during parades etc

The park itself has a great atmosphere about it - many of the shows that are on take place later than normal to space the day out. There is generally a DJ playing music down Main Street and the Central Plaza - you'll find this area is very busy from 11pm onwards.....I did it this year and managed to get a good spot down Main Street at 11.30. It is a chance to see fireworks whilst there as they don't normally have them on at this time of year. I enjoyed the fireworks on both occasions but was not as impressed by this year's offering. I would highly recommend it though - there is something special about seeing in New Year with Disney!

If you have any questions then please do let me know!

in your experience, is the day before new years just as busy? or does it realy pick up on newyears eve. How much is the RER train ticket from the city area in Paris (our Hotel) to DLP, and can I buy the tickets in advance or would I even need to.

It's not as busy but it would be wrong to say it's quiet....you can still get lots done though!

A return ticket from central Paris to the resort is about 12euros for a return ticket which is very reasonable...you'll be fine just showing up and getting a ticket - I've started from CDG Etoile, Auber and Chatelet before and it's all very easy - just make sure you look for RER A and that the train is going in the direction of Marnee-la-Vallee.
