Where to sit on SWA?

We are flying with SWA in a couple of weeks. I have never flown with them before. I plan on staying up and printing our boarding passes at 12:00 am. Hopefully we will get in the "A" group. My question is where should we try to sit? Where do we not want to sit? I looked on the sticky at the top and SWA is not listed. Also, how can I find out what type of plane we will be in?
Thanks :earsgirl:

Don't expect your flight to be very comfortable, unless you travel at an unpopular time and find an empty seat next to you. The Southwest Airlines fleet consists of Boeing 737 jets, which have some of the narrowest seats (about 17" across) in the air.

I love SWA! They're so laid back and fun.

DH likes to sit in the exit rows, which requires us to park it in the front of the A line about an hour before the flight. I really don't care where I sit...usually the first window seat I find.

If you print your boarding passes out at midnight, you will most definitely be an A. We do the same thing. Even if I'm traveling by myself for work, DH always stays up late for me and prints out my boarding pass. In the 16 times I've flown with them over the last year, I've gotten to be an A every time except for one flight I few standby from MDW to SDF...I was a C and felt like such a loser! :rotfl2:

I know you were quoting an article. I do disagree totally with that article.
The seats are approx. 18" wide and have the roomiest pitch of most airlines.
I fly them constantly and I am 6'1" and my lady is 5'7". We have more than enough leg room and "bottom" room, in fact, we have inches to spare in the seat. We are pencil thin either.
We have flown Delta and felt like sardines crammed in a can, we have flown NWA and the same applies, American was a bit more comfortable than SWA, but, they like to change or cancel flights.
Not picking on you, just the article.
For information on seat size and pitch, look at the SWA's web site. It is all listed there. :)

I find SW's seat pitch to be more comfortable than ATA's, even though I am not a 737 fan (give me a 757-300 any day). Where to sit really depends on your personal preferences. I like an aisle when I'm, while my husband prefers the window, so I sit in the middle when I am with him. Because we only bring carry-on, we like to sit in the front of the plane so we can get off more quickly. If you have checked luggage, you can sit more towards the back because it doesn't matter if you get off fast; you'll still probably need to wait a bit for your luggage. When alone, I will sometimes go for an exit row due to the extra space. But I noticed something odd on my last trip; usually the seats in front of an exit row do not recline, but they do on SW. It doesn't make a difference in legroom, but the person next to me had a laptop on his tray table and he had to remove it because the recline pushed the screen down (that would be true in any seat). We always print our boarding passes at midnight to get A and then get to the airport early so we'll have the best choice.
