but with $300.00 baby blankets and a $3000. watch why were you staying at a value resort? :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear about your lost items. :guilty: We would charge our phones and batteries at night and put the chargers in the car because I was reading about the mKeeping taking them from the room. :guilty: You should be able to leave things in your room and not have to worry about them being stollen. I mean, your not staying for free! :sad2:

I don't believe the OP actually stayed there. I believe they just used the room for afternoon breaks.

Let's put emotion aside and look at some facts.

1) Housekeeping would clear the crib
. . . with no luggage in the room, they assume the people checked-out
. . . it is usual for no luggage to mean the people are gone
. . . housekeepers do not verify checkout status, they just clean
. . . a note on the crib could have been from previous days
. . . housekeepers change daily, so she might not have known
2) The watch is a loss, and it is a shame
. . . the watch should have been kept in the room safe
. . . better, it should have been kept in the hotel safety deposit box
. . . there is no excuse for stolen articles
. . . but, people are people and you need to take minimal precautions
. . . you should have made a theft report with hotel security
. . . you should also have made a police/sheriff report for the theft

We own a timeshare at the Hilton and it's a wonderful resort but it is a little out of our way to go just for afternoon breaks. We chose Pop because we don't need anymore more than a value resort for an afternoon nap.

We didn't go for the free dining as we didn't need the park tickets and we don't do Disney the entire time. For our 10 day trip to Orlando, we went to Disney 3 times.

I don't expect to get full compensation for what we have lost. I think there is a larger part of me that just wants Disney to take some responsibility for what happened. So far, I've just been pretty much ignored by them.

Again, thanks for those who have been helpful.

When I spoke to the head of housekeeping, they mentioned that maids are made aware of guest checkout days as they are highlighted in blue on their daily list of rooms to clean. If the room is not highlighted, they should not assume the room has been checked out by guest.

It's a shame some of your belongings were missing, but I gotta wonder why you would bring a $3000 watch to WDW in the first place! Next time - use your room safe.

Why even make that comment? OP stated she knew it was her fault for leaving the watch in the room.

Just rub salt into her wounds! I am sure she is kicking herself for leaving it there!

That is completely beside the point why they were staying there. The point is that those items should never have been taken. The OP just asked for a mailing suggestion, not a lynch mob  .

How and what is harsh?

I did not say she was wrong, I offered a possible explanation. She did not pay for a crib, they are a as needed request. Same with other items, such as irons etc. If you are not using it then sometimes housekeeping removes them.

It is a bit harsh b/c you asked why she would book a room she didn't stay in. OP specifically stated she booked the room solely for naps.

Did you file a police report on the watch? You maybe able to file a claim with your homeowners.

With express checkout that most use, there really isn't any official notice that you have checked out. They just assume when the room is empty, you are gone.

I removed the comment about why get a room just to nap in, sorry it just did not make sense to me. After that she stated they were staying off property.

I gave her the address which is what she asked for, so I am out of this one. Funny you can help someone with something and then make one comment about something else and everyone has to ride you about it. Geez.

Personally I think the fact that the OP was not in the room 24/7 will affect her resolution of the problem.

I wish her luck and I did give her the address so she can.

doesn't matter why they didn't stay...the things should NOT have been removed...but as a lesson...don't carry any expensive items that can be easily lost or stolen......then you have no worries...your cherished items will still be home ...... pirate: princess: :joker: :bounce: :sad2:

I know I shouldn't have left the watch there. It was a complete oversight on my part. I was feeding my four month old and the watch was scratching the back of her head I took it off and put it on the table beside me. When the feeding was over, we just packed up and left.

This is the phone number for Pop Century 407-824-2222. Instead of writing a letter, I would start making calls and getting a manager to speak to and don't stop until you get to the top. Actually I would call and ask who the manager is, get the name and their direct number and ask to speak to him or her. I tried to google the manager's name and number but that is all I could find. I would call instead of writing because letters seem to get "lost" but if you get a name, you can be more persistant. Make sure you also have the room number and the time of day you were there to rest.

I am so sorry that your things are gone. I can't believe that some people would respond by asking why you would have and wear a $3000 watch. Some people do have these things, they are to be worn and enjoyed, not to be stolen. The OP also does not have to explain why or how she has a $3000 watch or why she wears it. It is not her fault these things were stolen.

We had a similar experience last week while going thru airport security at JFK. My DH removed his (dare I say it) Rolex and put it in the tray to be x-rayed (against my telling him to never remove any jewelery) After a while of waiting for our stuff to get thru, he noticed his watch was not there. After creating a scene the watch "mysteriously" appeared 10 minutes later....it somehow never made it thru the x-ray and was found behind the scanner where it should not have been.

I hope your things "mysteriously" show up as well.

You asked a question, "why was my post harsh" and I answered. That's all. No personal attack there. Sorry if it came across that way.

Glad you were able to help OP.

Have a Magical Day!!!
