Where to request room for AKL 2-bedroom suite?

We just booked a 2-bedroom suite at AKL over Spring Break. From what I can tell from pictures, these suites are towards the ends of the wings. I know the kids for sure want to request the bunk bed option for the 2nd bedroom, but can anyone help me out with any specific room requests or area to request? Are they all Savannah Views (I hope so)? Any help greatly appreciated!

I toured the two bedroom suites in August and the second bedrooms all had two queen beds.

I actually did see pictures that someone had posted of a 2 bedroom suite, and it had a queen bed and bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom. That was back in 2001 though and the current listing I have for bedding in the suites no longer shows a bunk bed as being available. Perhaps the picture shown was 1 bedroom suite and a connecting deluxe room. That option would give you the bedding you require.

The picture I saw had the bunk beds in it too. I bet it was a 1-bedroom suite attached to a deluxe room. Anyone know for sure about this? Where were the suites located? Were there any that had better views than others?

I stayed in a two-bedroom suite at the AKL on the 5th floor. The master bedroom had a king-size bed. The second bedroom had bunk beds, a queen-size bed, and a daybed. The Parlor Room had a sofa sleeper.

I stayed in a one-bedroom suite at the AKL on the 3rd floor. The master bedroom had two queen-size beds (what I requested since my parents sleep in different beds -- I know, way too much personal information!). The Parlor Room had a sofa sleeper (which was perfect for my young daughter and me). I know there was a second bedroom that could be connected to this suite in order to turn it into a two-bedroom suite, however, I do not know what its bedding configuration was.

Here are photos of the suites that I stayed in for reference purposes:

AKL 2-Bedroom Suite (Master Bedroom)
AKL 2-Bedroom Suite (Second Bedroom)

Last year I visited the two-bedroom suite that was located one floor below the two-bedroom suite that I stayed in (that would put it on the 4th floor). #1hockeymom was staying in that suite. You can PM her for the bedding specifics (just tell her "Janet2k" sent you), but I ~think~ the second bedroom had bunk beds and a queen-size bed.

I hope that helped.

Okay, I have video of #1hockeymom's suite loaded on my laptop (yeah, I'm a high-tech geek). There were bunk beds and a queen-size bed in the second bedroom.

I hope that helped.

Janet2K,

Thanks for the wonderful pictures. They help a lot! So, you only get the cool domed balcony if you're on the 5th floor? I didn't realize they had the suites on all of the floors. Did you put in a special request for 5th floor? Do they all pretty much have the same views, only on different floors? Do you happen to remember what room number you had? Maybe we could put in a request for it. Thanks again!

Yes, you only get a domed balcony on the 5th floor and only if the suite is located at the end of a “finger” (thought I’d say that just to be safe since I don't know where all the suites are located). No, we did not request a domed balcony. When we stayed in that suite, we were the very first guests at the resort (we were there for Opening Day and Opening Week). The domed balcony was a wonderful surprise.

As to views, I believe all the suites have savannah views. Depending upon where the suite is located (AKL Resort Map), the view will vary (one of our suites was on Zebra Trail and the other was on Kudu Trail – the views were different and yet similar).

I know that suites exist on floors 3, 4, and 5. I’m not sure if they exist on a lower floor. By the way, no suites exist on floor 6 (that's the concierge floor where the Kilimanjaro Club is located).

I am not an expert on the resort, but I bet lots of folks in the AKL FAQ thread are. Please make sure to pose your questions to them there. I bet they could answer whatever you throw their way.

ZipDdoodah, I hope this helped. Have a ~magical~ vacation. I love the AKL (and my favorite CM works there).

The best suites are on second floor.... they put you very close to the animals. There are a few suites that overlook the hot tub.... you dont want that!!!

When I asked to look at a two bedroom suite at the AKL last January, I was shown two and both had two queen beds in the second bedroom. These were dedicated 2 bedroom suites. I was told that there were options of getting a one bedroom suite and a connecting room. Maybe that is where the bunk bed option comes in?

Interesting

For the two different two-bedroom suites that I spoke about in a prior post, both of those suites were truly two-bedroom suites. Sure, they could be rented out as one-bedroom suites since their second bedrooms could be locked off from the main suites. However, those second bedrooms could not be rented to any other guests. Why? Because no room numbers were assigned to either of them. Disney can’t rent out a room if it doesn’t have a room number assigned to it.

Here are two photos that I hope show what I’m talking about:
Suite’s Main Exterior Entrance (note room number)
Second Bedroom’s Exterior Entrance (note missing room number)

How the Animal Kingdom Lodge handles those two suites (and probably other two-bedroom suites in their inventory) is completely different than how the Grand Floridian handles most of their two-bedroom suites. When I stayed in two different two-bedroom suites at the Grand, both of those suites’ second bedrooms had room numbers assigned to them. That allowed the second bedrooms to be locked off from the main suites and rented to other guests.

I don’t know the history behind the suite layouts at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I’m sure there was a valid reason for handling the room assignments the way that they were handled. But with all things Disney, everything is subject to change without prior notice (they might have recently slapped room numbers on those rooms, who knows). ;)
