Where to request at SSR?

Normally we prefer to play room roulette and let the resort assign us a room...we've gotten great rooms that way. However, DH JUST had knee replacement surgery so location is a bit more important as he will only be 12 weeks out from surgery on our trip in September. We need to be within an easy walk of stuff...pool, DS. Where should we request?

We already have a deluxe studio booked. Not preferred. Online check in is in 3 days. We can drive when need be, but just trying to get a "homebase" that's reasonably convenient. Looking at the map, Congress Park seems pretty good? Where is the bridge to DS?

Grandstand section. We loved it, short walk to main bldg, next to splash pad and pool with drink refill station, and First bus stop!

Now for closeness to Carriage House.. It's Grandstand all the way. Congress Park is the closest to DS , but it is a haul to Carriage House. We just returned from DW last month. From what I could tell from the DS side the bridge looks darn near as close to CP as they could make it. We are actually returning to SSR next June after taking a year off to go to Kidani. We decided we missed SSR for the atmosphere and proximity to DS.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out which areas were preferred and which were regular.

Did you book the "standard" category?

I don't believe so. I'm pretty sure we went with the "cheapest" use of our points...and checking MDE it just says deluxe studio so I'm almost certain we didn't book preferred. At the time of booking we didn't know the surgery was nigh.

Good to know! We won't be using the busses this trip as we aren't "doing Disney". We are using our DVC for the resort but have tix for Discovery Cove, Bush Gardens, Sea World and Aquatica. We will be doing a LOT of time at Disney Springs and driving to Ak one night for the DVC member event.

The walkway to DS from Congress Park is at the far end of the lagoon, and even the closest CP building is a solid 5-6 minute walk to get into the Springs. If the knee surgery won't allow that much walking (keep in mind that parts of DS will be at the other end), and you plan to drive to DS, then location won't make a lot of difference.
