Where to request a room at SSR?

Hi! I have never stayed at SSR and it looks huge. That doesn't bother me because we usually stay at OKW and it is also huge.

I am wondering if like, OKW, there are certain buildings to avoid, and some that are especially nice. I don't really care if we are close to the main pool or check-in area. I just don't want my balcony facing a road or AC unit! Any suggestions? I am looking more for building numbers than "areas".

Thanks!

Carousel is probably the quietest. Congress Park is closest to DTD and does not have a themed pool. Paddock, Springs and Grandstand have the themed pool areas close to them.

The buildings are not numbered, just the villas.

I guess I need the Villa numbers then. I've looked at a map of SSR and it looks similarly laid out to OKW. That's why I am comparing them. At OKW there is Turtle Pond, Miller Road, Peninsular, etc. These are the areas, but within the areas the villas have numbers. I always request there by building number. I'm sure someone knows what I am talking about!

Check out this post in the SSR Owners & Lovers thread. FAQ #4 has a list of pros and cons for each section. There are also detailed maps that will show you the room numbers in each building.

another question from someone that would prefer to be in the springs section. Should I request one of the three buildings or does it not matter and just request the area? We are traveling with teens and want to be closer to the arcade, quick service food location and main pool so they can go on their own if they want. They are 17 yrs old

Thanks

There is counter service at the Paddock pool area. Plus they might want to be closer to DTD in Congress Park. At 17, I'd imagine they will wander around by themselves. They might want to hit Disney Quest as well.

I would never request a certain building as that really limits your choice and at Disney if they can't give you what you ask for, they don't necessarily give you what is close to that.

So if you want Springs, that would be my only request.

Thank you but I dont think those areas would work as my 17DS will be spending time at the arcade and I would prefer our room to be closer to that area in the August heat. I heard that some of the Paddock areas can be a long walk and no arcade in the congress park. but thank you for the suggestion.

DS and DH went to DQ last summer and they didn't enjoy it at all. They said many of the arcade games were broken and had out of order signs on them. They did enjoy the virtual areas. I was surprised on their reaction as I thought DS would have loved it. DD is 18 and not into video games, etc and would rather lounge at the pool and if the spa is open by then she will probably want a treatment or two

Thank you Sammi for your input I think I will keep it simple an just request the Springs section

We were in Congress Park on our last trip. We have not decided where to request for our Dec trip yet. I know it is only a request and really after all is said and done we will still be in Disney and staying at a beautiful resort. With that mindset nothing will disappoint us.

We are heading home to SSR in november. We have always stayed in Congress Park but would like to try a new area. I'm thinking maybe Paddock near the pool. Is this a good choice? And since we haven't added any request yet is it better to call MS or email? Any advice on which works better?

OKW is my favorite resort but if I can't get in SSR suits me just fine, as long as I make requests!

Without requests at SSR we landed not once but twice in the very same "Carousel" building! Now I love my balcony time, not so much in the Carousel building! View: Parking lot, facing the street with partial view of "The guard gate", you want to talk dismal, not once but twice! Not too mention Carousel is far from anything!

After that I made requests, and got them each time, 5 to date. Favorite building Congress Park, Downtown Disney view! It's by a quiet pool, you can walk to and from DTD and it's only a 10 minute walk to the Turf Club, the boat dock and the main pool! Love it, and there's a grill by that quiet pool!

We love being close to DTD and it's just an added bonus to staying at OKW and SSR!
