Does anyone know where we can rent a tv/dvd player for our trip?
It's a 10 hour drive and we thought this might help some. Don't plan on using
it all the way, just something different if they get bored.

TIA,
Tracy

Someone posted a reply to me about this back in May, I think. There is a website you can go to rent them. Do a search on tv/vcr or on my user name and it should come up. But the rental then was around99.00 for a week, and if you just want the console type you can buy one at Wal-Mart or somewhere for a little less than 200. We have the flip down type(folds up into the ceiling) we bought at Best Buy. It cost more(1100), but is safer, and worth it. It has saved our lives not only on our vacation, but on shopping trips, etc.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to secure the regular small TV/VCR units in a car to make them safe? This one is intended for car use and has the adapter. We can borrow the one my sister bought for her Disney trip but we are also concerned about the safety of having it in the car. Also Tracy, I have seen these units as little as 149.00 on sale.We were going to buy one had my sister's trip not come first and now we will be able to borrow hers if we can do if safely.

The only way I have read to make these type units completely safe is to have them bolted to the floor. Others may have a better idea.

Yup, that's it. Thanks SueM. I wasn't computer-savvy enough to create a link!

My husband straps our tv to the console with tie down straps. The kind that you crank on the straps and they get tighter.

If you didn't get an answer yet - I rented one for our trip next week from the website
www.survivethedrive.com. I can't vouch for the performance but the site was very informative and the customer service seems to be good. :pinkbounc

My DH bought a tv/vcr stand for our auto at Target. It was like 15.00. We have used it like three times since the purchase of our tv/vcr. By the way they are marked down at Costco from 289.00 to 199.00. The stand has a strap that velcros around the unit and the stand itself has velcro for the bottom for your carpet. I feel it is safe. The space I have in my van is very small but it fits perfect. I hope this helps some!! Good Luck and it is a life saver we drive 16 hours down and back.

there is a TV/VCR called TV in a bag I beleive that strps to the front seat. It can hang between the seats of be strapped to the back of one seat. There are also TV/VCR that are in a console that can be bolted to the floor. We however also have the velcro stand fron target and once we get the TV wedged in between the seats with the stand under it it is in there pretty tight.

we used bungi cords to strap the tv/vcr down in our minivan and suburban. there are all kinds of places under the front seats to hook an end into and you may need to extend them out to get the full length you need. I think we used like 4 different cords and wrapped until it was tight. now we have the kind that is like it's own centerpiece in the van and bolts to the floor. bought it at sam's club for 300 something. GREAT BUY!!!!

Bungee cords are not really safe for strapping down something like a TV. If you go to the link I posted higher up in this thread, there is some good info why bungee cords are not safe.
