Where to rent boats for boating around lagoon?

We've always wanted to rent a boat to boat around the lagoon surrounding the Polynesian, Contemporary, etc.

Where do we rent these boats? How much are they? We'll be a group of 3 adults, DD3 and DS1.

We want a motor boat vs something you have to pedal.

I assume you have to wear a lifejacket?

You can rent the water mice or water sprites at the Grand, Poly, Contemory or the Epcot Resorts as well as the Carribean Beach, Coronado Springs and IIRC at Downtown Disney. They seat two and are motor powered like a jetski type thing with seats.

My dd and dh did it from the Polynesian last time and LOVED it - they were provided life jackets and yes they were required to wear them. You must be 12 to drive and at least 5 feet. It was about $20.00 (+/~) per half hour.

For your group, you may want to be all together on a pontoon boat. You can rent them at the same places. Adults don't have to wear life jackets, but the last time we went with kids, the children did.

If you check out the disneyworld website, they list all the places with the marina's that rent out. Your best bet is going to be a Pontoon boat, which not every marina has. The mice, while lots of fun, are not suitable for a one year old- they have low sides, are very low the water, and no way for the only other person in the craft to keep them seated if they got antsy. On a pontoon, only one person is driving so rest are able to enjoy the ride/keep an eye on kids. The pontoons also have a bit more room for the kids to play in if they want to. Also, if I remember right, there is a smaller boat, inbetween a pontoon and a water mouse that might be perfect. When I was about 8-9, my parents and 16 year old sister rented one of these.
