MIL is joining us for our trip in September and she needs the use of an electric scooter for the week. Should we rent a scooter on property or can someone recommend a local place that will deliver and pick up at our resort (SSR)?

Thanks for any help.

The DisABILITIES FAQ thread at the top of the board has links and information for a number of wheelchair and ECV rental places in the WDW area.

It would probably be a good idea to rent one offsite. That way she will always have one, in the parks and out. The parks do run out of ECVs so if you go the rent in park route she might not be able to get one. It'll probably be cheaper in the long run too to rent offsite.

I would feel comfortable renting from any of the companies listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Those companies are ones that DIS members have repeatedly posted good experiences with.

I agree any of the listed ones. I have rented from Walker Mobility before with good results and have ordered a scooter from them for our Nov visit for my husband, I bring my own.

And I've rented from Walker, Randy's, and Scooterama (hey, I'm an equal opportunity renter!). Satisfied with all of them.

I was happy with my recent rental from Walker, although it quit in the pouring rain at the back of the MK on Friday, Aug. 24. I don't know why, because it was charged. Maybe the rain had something to do with it.

We're leaving in 11 days and I have a scooter reserved from Randy's for my Mom. I chose them because you have to be there when its dropped off and I really wanted my parents to get a tutorial about how it works and how to break it down to be put in their SUV. I'll report how it goes when we get back home.

::yes::
It was probably from the rain. If the control tiller gets wet, it can be damaged.

I'm not sure what the control tiller is, but the box that has the key and hand controls was covered with the little shower cap they gave me well before it rained and I also had my poncho thrown over it, since I had my backpack in the basket. I hope I didn't ruin it, I haven't heard anything from Walker, so I am assuming it was alright. I wouldn't have gone out if I thought it would get messed up.

If you had it that covered up, you did all you could to protect it.
And, you really can't plan for those sudden showers.
It probably was just coincidence.
