Where to purchase poncho is Disney Springs

Exactly.
Also I've considered a rain jacket because then I could also toss it on in restaurants if the AC is making me cold but I like that the poncho keeps my shorts and legs down to my knees dry plus it can help to keep my socks and shoes dry too if I'm just standing in one place.
Or with the rain jacket do you find it still keeps your shorts dry?
What rain jacket do you have if you don't mind sharing?
I'm not exactly anti other options because in that respect I say do what works for you but I am pro poncho since it works for me lol.

Oh and are they just as packable as a poncho?

I've only used rain jackets for the last 10-15 years. It's something I can use again at home, and don't fill up landfills with a bunch of useless single use plastic. The coverage isn't always as good as a poncho, IE I can't put my backpack/messenger bag under the rain jacket, but if it's raining that hard, I'm not going to be dancing around in the rain anyway. Most of the 2.5 layer options from Patagonia, REI, Marmot etc can be had for under $120, much less if you buy last years colors on sale. Spacewise they take up just about the same amount of room, probably a little less due to less material. But my rain jacket typically gets used all 4 seasons. With the right layers it serves well against rain, wind, snow etc and can be worn any day back in the real world. Personally I've used the Patagonia Torrentshell and Marmot Precip in the past, my current choice is one from L.L. Bean that seems to be discontinued. I've found most of them to be similar in performance, just comes down to different cuts and pocket configurations.

Thanks although the price is just not justified for my purposes.
My poncho folds pretty small and flat like the pics I posted so I guess I'll stick to it

It no longer fits her, but DD had an awesome Columbia rain jacket that we used at wdw when she was around 4-5 years old. Found it on sale at i think Bass Pro for ~$20.
No way will I carry around a wet poncho for myself (I’m willing to carry ponchos or rain jackets for the kids, but not for all six of us). DH and I would rather get wet.

Another little known tip - Disney will replace your Disney poncho if it rips. I had one of the yellow ones with Mickey on the back. It had to be at least 15 years old. The neck was ripping, and a gift shop attendant offered a replacement for me. We also did this with a newer one with no issues. YES - you pay more, but you have a substantial product that is worth it. Now, I just have to remember to bring it with me on raining days!!

Yeah, you can find past season Columbia or house brands for under $50 for adults easy.

We had a trip where it rained all week and our $1-store ponchos worked great. Don't waste your money on the Disney park ones.

We got sweet dinosaur ones at T-Rex ~5 years ago. I really need to get rid of them at this point, but we love them and they are always such a hit when it rains!

Quart size. And even after its wet and I just roll it up instead of refolding it it still fits in the baggie.
I always end up folding my sister's as well because for some reason she can't get it that small and flat on her own lol.

Thanks! Trying to decide whether to just wait and buy them when we get there in August (we'll be there for 11 days), to save on luggage space...

I think its great that we all have "poncho strategies" to match our touring plans! We are headed to the parks for a week tomorrow. We start our day at Magic Kingdom. We are hoping to buy some Disney ponchos ASAP (because if we do it will mean we will get the minimum amount of rain, at least that's the way it usually works for. No ponchos = lots of rain. Ponchos = little rain). I'm assuming these can be purchased at the Emporium?

Thank you!

Yes. ALL the gifts shops in each park have them. If it is not raining they are behind the registers. Just ask to purchase one at any register

Excellent. Thank you for your help! The 3.5 and 6-year-old can't wait to have them. The 3.5-year-old will probably want to her's all day long even in the sun!

We have tried the cheap and dollar store ponchos. I still end up soaked and also frustrated and constantly fussing with them. I agree with PP that the Disney ponchos are of surprisingly good quality. We don't bring a bag into the parks, so we often will opt to buy a Disney poncho when/if we need it once the rain starts. We usually will keep it for the trip and will discard it before we go home.

I also agree with PP that a rain jacket is another good option. We have North Face rain jackets (cheaper brands out there that serve the same purpose), and these tend to be more comfortable, fitted, and less hot and clingy than a poncho. The hood stays up well and there are underarm vents to keep us cool. It's just as easy to ball them up after we take them off, or we can easily tie them around our waist. But like the issue we have with the poncho, we hate carrying them around just in case.

So, might not be the most cost efficient thing to do, but we will leave the room with rain coat on or in hand if its currently raining or will definitely start raining. If rain is only a chance, we'll take the risk without the rain coat and buy the poncho if we need it. We also take mid-day breaks which helps with this as well.

I would have to disagree with your recommendaton. We bought Disney ponchos many years ago, so long in fact they were the yellow ones. So we paid a bit more but we have had them for over 10 years and love them

It all depends on if you're a big poncho person really. We don't wear them unless we're at Disney or camping and its raining a lot. At $10 a pop the $1 ponchos are adequate and just get tossed when we're done with them. If you're a family of four that's quite a difference in terms of the cost.
