Is there a piano my guys could use to practice on the Magic? They have a "performance" soon after we return, and they need the practice.

The concierge team for the suites offerred to arrange some practice time for my daughter in the dueling piano bar. Not sure if it was just a concierge favor or maybe something you can ask the cruise director about when you board. The worst that can happen is that they say no.

There is a piano in the atrium lobby....do they have dueling pianos anymore....I thought not.

Sorry---didn't know dueling pianos was gone---it was about 4 or 5 years ago. LOL!! But, I am sure the principle still applies. Ask the cruise director if there is any possibility to practice the piano.

We were on the 11 day Wonder in September and the Holiday Magic this past December. Both cruises we were bumped up to Cat 3, so I took my DDs' (8,9,11)music. Neither cruise would allow us to practice at any piano. We tried guest services, concierge and even asked Brent when we saw him walking the halls. The pianos are locked when not being played by cast members.
We were on back to back cruises january, 2005 and on the day of disembarkation/embarkation we were permitted a short period at the piano in Diversions. We were one of two cabins to do back to back. We were on the cruise11 days but they only practiced 1 day. We have a keyboard now that we will take on longer vacations. Not quite the same but it may help.

Why make them practice if you are on vacation. That just limits them to what they can do on the vacation. Also you are not allowed to just use a piano on the ship.

I can not imagine them letting you use the atrium piano since that would open up a whole can of worms and then everybody would want to use it and the majority of people probably shouldn't be practicing in the atrium of the ship!!

Why have them practice, well as a music teacher, if the timing of the performance is right after the trip, it is important. Many performances on piano are required to be done by memory. Some competitions are only offered at certain times of the year. You would be amazed how quickly the mind forgets.

Good luck, it won't hurt to ask about the pianos in the lounges, bars that may be out of the way.

I was going to suggest you ask the person who is staying in the Walt suite, but someone else on the boards said they removed the grand piano from the suite on the Magic. Anybody know for sure?
