Where to plug in ECV in the parks?

Are there outlets readily available? My dad needs to rent one & is worried about the battery dying. I know this isn't much of a concern with the Disney ECVs but I think he'll need to rent from another company so that he can get from the parking lot to the front of the parks easily.

Thanks!

I can't help with the theme parks as I failed to take notice during my March trip but if you should be over at the Boardwalk I did see one outside of Kouzzina's and there was one outside of the Screendoor Store. There may be others that I did not see.

You shouldn't have trouble with a rented ECV unless he is close to or over the weight limit for the model he rented. Just be sure he plugs it in every night and leaves it the full time he is sleeping. Also, he may want to plug it in if he goes back to his resort to rest. On a couple of trips, my family didn't want to take mine and I rented from Apple. I didn't have problems on either trip.

They're all over the place....just ask a CM...or a nearby vendor... (the Disney ECV shop will help out in a pinch as well....At one time I got a significant push to the train station by a passing CM ( there are lots of outlets near the lockers there) near Main Street when my rental scooter died suddenly. Then a WDW ECV was brought for me to use while mine was charging. If you remember to charge overnight you'll have plenty of juice...If you get into a Murphy's Law kind of situation at the parks, though, you'll find plenty of people who know of an outlet you can perch near and plug into for a while. It's not a tragedy if it happens...just an unscheduled adventure. You could publish an outlet locator app. after your trip....:yay::yay:

When I needed an emergency charge at the Magic Kingdom, a CM pointed me to two outlets; one in the tunnel under the train station, and one just outside it, by a pressed coin machine.

I plugged into one at Cosmic Rays one time. Also, I saw one at the entry to the restrooms in tomorrowland. That's the building that used to have the skyway entrance on the second floor. There is one at Pinocchio's quick serve. In Epcot, there's one inside the entrance to The Land. There's a bench there you could sit and wait. Probably there's places all over, if you start looking or asking.

We had dinner at the Coral Reef restaurant and plugged in there. Also plugged in at a restaurant at DTD. Outlets are available most everywhere; just ask. If it's something the CM hasn't dealt with before, they'll either look for an outlet or look for the manager. :cool1:

And I would just ask a CM if it becomes necessary.

Some scooters come with two batteries and they seldom run out of power, but you still need to charge the battery. Smaller scooters will only have one battery.

I think you need to practice good habits with the scooter and you should be ok for the day. First, as previously mentioned charge the battery every night for a full charge. Second, shut the scooter off when not moving like with seeing shows, parades, and fireworks. We have even shut the scooter off in long, ride lines. Conserve your battery power.

Keep an eye on the battery level indicator to make sure you are not running low on the battery charge. If you are running low then charge up in the park.

Hi. There are plenty of outlets you may use....for example, in Cinderella's Castle and over on the very end of the porch of the Crystal Palace. In Animal Kingdom, there is a great shady spot by the picnic benches in Dinoland by the store and also one by the rest rooms in that area. In Epcot I have found if you go by the International Gateway where they rent strollers the nice lady there will let you charge up and have a nice chat with you as well, and the second story of The Land in front of the Garden Grill there is a little parking area that has two outlets. I would NOT recommend the outlets in and around the grassy areas, some of them either don't work or the CM do not like you to use them as they block flow of traffic in walkways. You can always ask a cast member, but these areas I find the CM are most friendly and allow a rest and recharge.

I rent from and outside company and go mostly all day. If you find that your scooter can't last more than 8 hrs bogged down with packages you might ask them to bring another battery to you in the park ( they will do this) if it seems like it isnt working. You may also worst case scenerio, upgrade to a heavier duty model that has a longer battery life.

Hope this helps and remember to keep the ignition switch covered if it is going to rain. Learned my lesson:mad:

1. In some restaurants and other large rooms there are outlets in the floor, covered by a lid which a coin can unscrew or release.

2. Bring a "3 prong to 2 prong plug adapter" with you. Some outlets are recessed in the wall or floor so that some plugs can't reach down while the adapter will provide an extension to reach down into the outlet.

3. Do not jump start cars using your ECV or power wheelchair. (This should be a hard and fast rule to remember because you can damage the ECV also.) A weak battery puts extra strain on the motor.
