We are travelling down to Disney next week and are planning to pay off the remainder of our DVC loan in person. I'm not crazy about the idea of mailing the payment but I'm wondering where we should deliver the payment to once we get there. I don't know if anyone has done this before and I'm not sure whether Member Accounting is actually anywhere within the resort (I cannot recall the address off hand) and if it isn't, is there some place that we could drop the payment off to while ensuring that it gets to the proper destination (it's a fairly significant chunk of money and I would be absolutely sick if it was magically misplaced!).

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

The DVC offices are located in a Disney building at Celebration. It is pretty easy to find if you are familiar with that area - but it is not located within WDW at all.

I would expect that you could hand-deliver your payment to the sales center at SSR. It's much easier to find and WDW transportation will even take you there!

Have a great trip! :)

Call Accounting, and pay off remainder of your loan on your visa.

Next month, Pay off Visa. (And if your concerned about amount, pay at local branch office).

If you like, prepare in advance by getting an airmile credit card, or Disney Reward card, in advance, and then have more to spend next trip.

Hope this helps, Goldi

I agree with those who say pay it by charge card (and get any rewards you might be eligible for); if not, why not mail a check "registered mail-signature required" ? :confused3 I don't know if Canada has this form of mail (sorry, no disrespect intended), but that's how we've paid off ours in the past. Why spend your vacation time trying to track down someone to take your money?

Wow...talk about a quick response! Thank you all so much! I agree that I don't want to spend my vacation time tracking down someone to take my money! I just thought that if I could drop it off somewhere that would be fairly easy to access, then I wouldn't mind doing so. I thought about going the whole VISA route...the problem is that VISA charges a conversion fee when the transaction is completed using so-called "foreign" funds and given that my airmiles card is a Canadian dollar VISA, it would actually cost me a pretty penny when you factor in the conversion fee. On top of this, I have to take into account the current exchange rate and VISA actually gives you a less favourable exchange rate on their transactions so I would have to incur an additional penalty (I guess the banks have to make their billions of dollars somehow!). I suppose that I could get a US dollar VISA but I was hoping to pick up the bank draft tomorrow to take advantage of the current exchange rate before the CAN dollar takes a nose dive again! I'll try to call the sales centre at SSR before I leave to see if they'll take it (thanks WebmasterDoc!). Otherwise, I'll send it registered mail (we do have that here DVC Grammy and I wasn't offended by your comment whatsoever!).

Thanks again everyone! One last thing (and I'm being really lazy here because I could probably find the answer if I was to dig up my paperwork or check the Member website)...do you know who specifically I should make the bank draft out to?

My DH just suggested we meet somewhere and you bring cash :lmao: :rotfl2: !

I called member services accounting and they helped me. I actually faxed them a letter to have them pull the money out of our checking account. She was then able to date it for that day and stop the accrual of interest. Each day the payoff amount is different. Fast and easy :-) especially as we only had the loan for 2 months.
