A very close family member is planning a wedding for fall of next year and has asked me to help with the honeymoon since I'm the appointed trip planner in the family.:rotfl: I've planned trips to Maui, Mexico, St. Lucia, and WDW (of course!) for various friends and family.

The problem I'm having is that the couple wants their honeymoon on a beach and their wedding is during hurricane season. I don't want to suggest Mexico or the Caribbean for this reason.

Maui is going to be my first suggestion but that might be above their budget.

I'm also considering suggesting Siesta Key or Clearwater, FL. I think Clearwater might be better for them since they are mid-20's and that area would have more activities for them in the evening.

If you went on your honeymoon during Sept. or Oct., where did you go? (please include name of resort)

What likes/dislikes did you have re: your destination?

How was the weather?

Looking forward to any suggestions. Thanks! :goodvibes

Well I am a September bride and we did... WDW of course, Haha.

But I have several friends that got married at the end of Sept. beginning of October and they did Mexico, Bali, Hawaii and Yosemite. They all had wonderful trips. Sorry I don't know the names of any of the resorts they stayed at. Hawaii would be an obvious easy choice that would fulfill their requests.

But Europe is beautiful in the fall! The French Riviera might be a nice choice if they want a beach nearby. We had a wonderful time in a rented apartment in Ville Franche once. Good luck.

DH and I were married in October 1993. We went to the moutains for our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time. The leaves were turning; it was beautiful!
I guess that doesn't really help you much since your couple has asked for a beach. However, the mountains are BEAUTIFUL in the fall!
We did not have enough money to spend on a fancy resort. We just stayed a simple bed and breakfast.
This is an awesome resort for a fall honeymoon in the mountains

They may have said a beach wedding without really thinking about hurricanes so run that buy them and see if they will change their mind. If so, Banff in Alberta Canada would be a WONDERFUL place to stay for a fall honeymoon :thumbsup2.

If they are stuck on the beach maybe San Diego-book them into the Del Coronado :thumbsup2. It probably won't be 90 degrees but there is a nice beach there.

Our neice and nephew got married mid Oct and they went to the FL Keys. They didn't have any issue with weather. They stayed in a rental home that another family member owns down there, so no help with resort info.

We're planning a wedding for the end of October next year. We were talking about going to the Caribbean, Hawaii, etc, but when I started researching honeymoons Europe came up and we decided on a European Cruise! I'm so excited for it! (Maybe more than the wedding...shhhh!)

My BFF got married last year, Oct 3rd actually. :) They went to Italy, Venice & Rome to be exact. :)

I got married in October(it'll be 20 years this october)
We went to Tahiti!!! Spent one week on Morea and another week at the Hotel Bora Bora.

Hands down best vacation of my life. The weather was spectacular.

Destin is beautiful - and even though its hurricane season - they are still in the states & could run for their life much easier than being stuck on an island:lmao:

The ABC islands in the Lesser Antilles are outside of the hurricane belt: Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. They are a bit of a plane ride as they are not far off the coast of Venezuela, but it's not as far (or as expensive) as Hawaii would be.

We went to Nova Scotia -- it was really beautiful in the fall; waterfalls everywhere.

I want to second Aruba. I went there for the first time this June and it was absolutely perfect. Supposedly it is ALWAYS perfect there, my in laws have timeshare and have been going for 17 years in March. but I don't think anything changes there ever. Also we happened to see 2 weddings while there, one at the Costa Linda and one at the Hyatt, both were magnificent. They Hyatt is breathtaking with an amazing Koi pond, the Costa Linda isn't as fancy but both weddings were amazing because the beach is the beach no matter where you go. My SIL, who literally travels all over the world with her boyfriend and can afford to go anywhere has said time & time again that Aruba is her favorite place and the spot for her wedding.

I will also say Aruba!! Love it there, great food and it is out of the hurricane belt. I have been there in Sept. and it was great!
