Where to have lunch after wedding?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the boards...been lurking a few weeks, while we try to decide if a Disney wedding is the way we want to go. Well we've taken the plunge and we're set to get married on May 2 at SBP. I'm so excited!

Anyway, the only wedding time slot I could get was 10 a.m. It's just going to be DF and I, plus our 4 kids - so no formal reception afterwards. I wanted to go out for a nice lunch afterwards in our wedding duds, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a place. All of the nice resort restaurants don't seem to be open for lunch, and from what I understand, we can't get into the parks in our wedding clothes.

Any ideas? I was thinking perhaps Portobello Yacht Club at DD. Or maybe go in a different direction altogether and hit Beaches & Creams for burgers and sundaes.

After all the effort that's going into getting a dress, I'd like to wear for more than just an hour or two. Any suggestions or experiences you can share would be very appreciated!

I had a late lunch at the Portobello Yacht Club after my wedding. My wedding was at 12:00 at SBP and lunch was supposed to start at 2:00 but we did not get there until almost 3:30. We had 14 guests plus us. I contacted The Portobello Yacht Club so I could create my own menu, I'm sure they will be happy to let you create your own menu as well.

Check out some of the places at the Swan & Dolphin. House of Blues is open for lunch at DTD and it is one of our favorite places(decent kids menu).

GF Cafe is nice for lunch, classy looking but not too stuffy. We had lunch there on Friday after Thanksgiving as we had a late flight home and the boys wanted to check out the GF. Alot of sandwiches, plus I think they have steak. I had a very good salad.

Plus it's not too busy at lunch.

Have you considered any of the restaurants at Swan/Dolphin? I'm not sure what their lunch hours are but that would be convenient. The Big River Brewing company is right on the boardwalk and they serve lunch as well.

Are you wearing a full/formal gown for your wedding? If your dress is more or less a "regular" dress and your DH is wearing a suit, you might be able to do something in a park (I think they're more worried about full gowns/formal attire, but you might ask anyway).

And, depending on how much you are willing to spend, you might see if you can have something small/personal catered somewhere at the Boardwalk. I know they do it for dinners, so it might be possible they can do something for lunch.

We were married at SBP and it was an earlier wedding as well. We did just change out of our clothes because it was so warm and went to ESPN club for a quick/casual snack.

We are in the same situation...10 am wedding and small # of guests (8 all together, including DF and I). We decided to go to Wolfgang Puck Cafe in DTD for lunch. I have heard good things about the food and like you said, there are limited options for lunch that aren't in the park.

We tried Wolfgang Puck for dinner, I loved the calamari and the smoked salmon pizza.

There will be 20 of us for our wedding and we are having lunch at the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs. Try one of the resort restaurants. Some of them are overlooked. We ate at the Turf Club for dinner one night and really enjoyed it.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I've got reservations for Portobello, but after looking at Wolfgang Puck's menu, I may have to make a change
