Hi

Ive been told not to do Magic Kingdom on 1st day cause of being nackered from flight and jet lag even though kids are gonna wanna go here 1st.

Been advise to do animal kingdom first. Can you suggest where to have breakfast with 4 and 9 yr olds girls, we staying at pop.

Thanks

I think skipping MK for the other parks is a bunch of fooey!! When you see the WDW commericals it is all about the MK- what child is going to understand why you can't go see the castle and ride Dumbo (or Space Mountain etc.) right away :confused3

Get to bed early on your arrival day to help take care of the jet lag and get an 8:05 character breakfast at Crystal Palace or CRT (depending on the likes of your children) and you will be finishing breakfast just as the park opens. See as much of it as you can and if you get tired, head back for a nap in the afternoon and head back out to a different park for dinner.

Have a fun trip!

I guess it does depend on how long your flight is and where your flying in from. We only have a 2.5 hour flight. We take the first flight out and get to WDW around 10am. Sometimes your room is ready, sometimes it's not. We also like to allow time to explore the resort. So we make our first ADR for dinner at Crystal Palace in MK at 5pm . We love the photos you can take on the porch of the restaurant with the castle behind you. There is no way my family could avoid MK on our first day. We're in MK at least once a day during our entire 10 day trip. It's our favorite park. Even if we only go to watch a parade or wishes.

Also, AK is not one of our family favorites.

Thanks for help.
I totally agree my 4 yr old runs to tv every time she hears the advert.
We are coming from uk so about 9hrs flight but I agree even if we just spend half 1st day there as least she will understand we are at disney.
How easy is it to get to crystal palace from pop and what sort of time would we need to leave to get there for 8.00 breakfast.

Unfortunately, you have to allow at least an hour travel time when taking the bus. I'd be at the bus stop no later than 7:15 for an 8am reservation.

When staying at the PO, we had an 8:30 ADR at CRT, the resort told us to be at the bus stop at 7am. DH wanted to KILL ME!!! :lmao:

have a camera ready when your DD's see the castle.... well if it's thier first time... I get there at around 10:30 so i'm planning on a dinner ADR at 1900 parkfare to start off the Disney festivities and then the next mornign i have an adr at cindrella's royal breakfast...

It is our 1st family trip to WDW, including myself, hubby and our 2 kids:cool1: We are booked for the Crystal Palace for breakfast that morning as we venture out for our 1st day of FUN at the MK park:love: We are driving a 13 plus hr. drive the day before but we will arrive early enough to chill out at our home resort (AKL), and get to bed decently to get up for our 1st day at MK. I wouldn't even think of not spending our very first day at WDW at the Magic Kingdom:yay: We will be soooooooooooo excited and the only way to start the first day off is the Magic Kingdom:cheer2: Have fun:woohoo:

We don't plan anything for the day of our arrival. It can be too much. Between the airport and just getting to the resort if all goes well can be exhausting. We tend to go to the pool or DTD, depending what time we get there. Then we are rested for our first full day at the parks. We always do MK first. We have breakfast at CP. It is a tradition and you know you can't mess with traditions ;)

Our family tradition for our last 6 visits to WDW has been to go to the Animal Kingdom on the first morning the day after arrival.

We have always made a dining reservation for the character breakfast at 8 or 9 am on that day.

This year we are doing the same thing. The character breakfast is now at the Tusker House (vs the Breakfastosaurus in DinoLand in the past)

Eating at Kona Cafe wouldn't be a bad idea. We like to eat there at 7 or 7:30 and then take the monorail to MK. It would be a great way to have your kids first see MK!

Our family tradition is to go to O'hana character breakfast the morning after we arrive. It's a great way to start the trip seeing Stitch, Lilo, Pluto and Mickey. Then we take the monorail over to MK for the day.

TO be honest as you are travelling from the UK, alot of people say that it takes the children longer than the adults to get used to the time difference, so I wouldn't be surprised if DD will be up at 5am and raring to go!!:lmao: So it actually might be the ideal day for an early crystal palace breakfast (especially if you can get the earliest (8.05am) slot,:lmao: as you will have the castle virtually to yourself - now that IS magic!!)

Plus you can always leave the park around lunch time for a nap/chill by the pool if the travelling catches up with you!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We always go to the Crystal Palace our first day at the MK!:goodvibes We get the earliest breakfast we can get, and the 4 kids don't stop running 'till after lunch! When we know we're going to be arriving late, and don't want to stress, we make our ressies for Crystal Palace for the next day! Then we are all relaxed and ready to go!:cool1:

Let me just throw this out there.....

How about following through with planning a day of rest for day1....except book a character breakfast for whatever time suits you....O'hana, Cape May Cafe or Chef Mickey's are all outside of the parks.....for the rest of the day do what ever you feel like...swim...shop at DTD....waterpark....Disney Quest.

We usually, follow this type of plan. If we fly in it's only a 3 hour flight but I'm still tired(mom does all the packing etc.) or if we drive in it's 24 hours in which case we are all tired. So, the first day we just plan a nice meal, relax and explore the resort.

I think staying at POP will let the kids know they are at WDW. How could you not notice......

Do whatever suits you. Unfortunately, there isn't a nice resturant at Pop to eat and then relax. The food court is good, probably one of the best food courts, but loud. There is no sit down place.
I personally love the MK, but the last trip we did Epcot first because we knew once my 4 year old nephew saw MK he would want to go back everyday, which he did. So we did MK, the third day, well we went on the evening of the 2nd day.
