Where to have a romantic stay?

My new hubby and I want to stay for one night at a WDW resort (one night since we live in Florida). Do you know of any w/ a complimentary honeymoon package? If so, do they require longer stays?

As for your question, if you have a disney wedding (on property) you get one complimentary night at a disney resort. I am not sure of honeymoon packages or complimentary honeymoon packages. Maybe other DISers can help ya out with this!
If you are looking into just staying one night, I recommend a monorail resort for convenience. My DH and I stayed at the Poly for our wedding night and it was perfect! I've never stayed at the GF, but I know they have honeymoon suites. Good luck with your planning!

My husband and I thought the YC was romantic. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night looking at the lake and the boardwalk with all the lights.

i personally like the feel of the Yacht Club, they also have one of the best places for dinner it is called the Yachtsmen steak house

For pure romance the GF is awesome. We had a lagoon view and it was stunning.

I don't think you'll find a complimentary package anywhere, but any of the deluxe resorts should be able to put something nice together for you.

We stayed at the GF for our honeymoon and will be staying at the GF next week (second half of our trip) for our anniversary...both Lagoon view. It is SO romantic! However, as "Webmaster" said, I do not think they do anything complimentary. The Disney Florist, however, will be happy to put something together for you. They do chocolate, champagne, flowers, etc.

I have seen somewhere on these boards where a guest has received a complimentary bottle of champagne on their anniversary. If you can remember, PM me on Feb. 14 (The first weekday after we get back from WDW) and I will be happy to let you know if they did anything special.

The polynesian, concierge level, lagoon view is the most romantic by far. I've stayed in every deluxe, so can give an informed opinion here!

WDW doesn't offer anything complimentary to honeymooners as a steadfast rule, although booking the room I mentioned above will probably get you *something* complimentary.

For an additional fee you can have the concierge pretty much put together anything yo'd like.

We thought it was. I quite enjoyed our stay there. The only reason we haven't returned is that we don't sleep well in a double bed--we use a king at home, so a queen is the minimum for us to be comfortable--and the entrances are exterior, we prefer interior corridors with balconies or patios.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it though.

I would suggest AKL. DH and I thought it was one of the most romantic places we have ever stayed. The decor and atmosphere is so exotic and soothing at the same time. We loved sitting on our balcony watching the animals on the savannah - we really felt secluded and private. We ordered a dining package from room service and were served dinner on our balcony. It was fabulous!

we specifically asked our AAA agent if the beds were full or queen, and she repeatedly told us queen...so now we're finding out they're full...we have a queen at home, and way back when we first started dating, we would sleep on a twin at each others places...it is our honeymoon, so I think we'd want to be close anyways but this is why I'm hoping for a king upgrade...I just can't justify spending another $100+ to sleep in a king at night.

The Swan is romantic with the heavenly beds (down bedding and pillows!) and wonderful views and is connected to the Boardwalk which is nice for long strolls, sharing a dessert at Beaches and Cream, watching Illuminations from beach area.

Also, I would recommend BWI, the quiet pool and hot tub are secluded with beautiful surrounding gardens - very romantic!

Actually, AKL felt very romantic even when we were there with our kids!

They are FULL, not queen. Your TA was mistaken. Just as an FYI there are not a lot of king rooms, and I think most of them are handicap accessible, meaning no bath tub, lower hang bars in the closet, etc.

Have you looked into renting DVC points for a studio? Often it will cost less because there is no tax. That would give you a larger room with a queen bed, a sofa to relax on, a "kitchen" area with a microwave, large minifridge, coffeemaker, and toaster.

no we didn't look in to that, we're doing the MYW package with dining, so we didn't really need something with a kitchen in it. If this trip goes well and my H2B loves Disney as much as I do, I'm going to try to persuade him into becoming and AP member or something more than just a once every few years trip...

How much does a studio typically run during the regular season?

My choices for romantic places to stay would be the Grand Floridian and the BoardWalk Inn. If you can fit it in your budget, both of these resorts have unique rooms for a honeymoon. At the GF they are called "honeymoon rooms," not suites. They have two varieties of honeymoon rooms, both in the main building with concierge privileges. The first type is about the same shape/size as a regular GF room, but it has a king bed and a sitting area with a loveseat, chairs, and coffee table where the other bed would normally be. These rooms also have jetted tubs (small though) and are on a secluded area of the second floor with castle views (some are partially obstructed with palm trees though) and balconies. The other type of room is a turret honeymoon room. The turret rooms are in the large turrets in the corners of the main building and are hexagonal in shape. These rooms have windows on several sides of the room, so there are no balconies. They have regular bathrooms (no jetted tubs), a wet bar, a sitting area with loveseat and chairs, and a HUGE walk-in closet.

The BWI has garden suites. These rooms have a two-story loft setup. The lower floor has a half bath, closet, wet bar, living room area with sleeper sofa and TV, eating area, etc. Stairs lead you up to the second floor loft where there is a king poster bed, another armoire with TV (and VCR if my memory serves me), and a HUGE bathroom with the biggest jetted tub and marble vanity area. There is also a little bitty TV in the vanity area, which is nice when you're getting ready in the morning. A separate room houses a large marble shower and toilet. The outside of the garden suites have little courtyards surrounded by white picket fences. Very cute!
