We are going to be staying at the resort starting tomorrow afternoon through next Saturday morning. We rented a car that we'll pick up at the airport and I'm wondering can anyone tell me anything that we might want to drive to go see outside of Disney? (ie; how far is nearest beach, other attractions, etc).

I think if for some reason (probably not possible) we wanted to take a break mid-week from the theme park it would be nice to get in the car and go somewhere and spend the day or part of a day outside of Disney.

Any idea's? Any online links I could look up other attractions to get directions from Disney, etc?

Thank you,

Kelle

We loved Gatorland. It is the swamp mixed with lots of alligators and a few shows. The kids were 6 & 8 while there and loved it. Worth the trip and close to Disney too.

Maybe check out the Kennedy Space Center, it's not too far from Orlando. I remember going there as a kid and loving it.

There are tons of activities outside Disney. In addition to the Universal theme parks, SeaWorld, water parks, dinner shows, alligator parks, boat rides, shopping, trail rides (horses), and others, there are places on both coasts. On the east coast there is Daytona, the beaches, Kennedy Space Center, St Augustine, etc. On the left (west) coast, there is St Pete's and Tampa Bay with Bursh Gardens and Dinoland (or something named like that) plus sailing. I believe that you can get on a cruise line for a day trip to gamble and they will pick you up in Orlando. There are a lot of things to do in Central Florida other than Disney.
