My friend and her family are planning a trip to disney on 12/31. They have 2 children ages 7 & 12.They are trying to find out a nice place for dinner and any other festivities for new years eve. I know you guys will have many suggestions. Thanks

We have been there for 2 NYE's 2003-4 and 2004-5. We have learned to avoid MK that day as it closes to all guests-even resorts guests by 10am and really no chance to park hop. We started at MGM and toured with FP until 4pm 2003-4 then hit epcot for ADR at Teppanyaki. Epcot was crowded and crazy(they hand out noise makers and hats around 6pm), but very fun. There is also a large party with dinner music and activities for all ages at the old millenium village, but that was extra cost from park admission so we did not do it. Then 2004-5 we started and stayed at MGM with dinner at Brown Derby and then did fantasmic and watched the midnight fireworks from our room at the Swan. They had radio disney at MGM and live bands and lots of stuff to entertain all ages. Epcot has outdoor music venues also. We had 2 adult couples and 2 12 and 13 year-old boys and veryone had a great time. I suggest picking where you want to eat dinner and make ADR asap (we did is as soon as allowed). If you want to go to MK, go early and plan to stay all day..if you leave and park is at max you will not be readmittted even if you have ADR in the park.

Connears,

We're posting on two NYE threads at the same time :).

I would say that if your friends are staying on-site that they choose a park to go to and get there early, take a mid-day break and return to the park later. They should take a Disney bus because driving is not an option on NYE. We always take a break mid-day and return to a park at around 5:00 PM. We have been doing this every year since 1999/2000 except the one year that we skipped.

The MK has really great fireworks, but it is the most crowded of all the parks. There is no alcohol, so you get happy people who are not drunk. Epcot is bigger and swallows up the crowds better during the day, but everyone heads over to the World Showcase for the fireworks. By midnight those some people are a little more lubricated than others. I have seen some people who have had too much to drink, but they are very rare.

I personally like the fireworks at the MK better as they are 360-degrees around you. They should pick a park now and make an ADR this week. I made my ADR at Teppanyaki the first week I could and I didn't get the time that I wanted.

Has anyone eaten at Chef de France on NYE. Do they have a special menu or just the regular menu. I have never eaten there, but I have ADR for there on NYE and I wanted to make sure what they would be serving is there normal menu.
