where to get Disney Dollars?

Can someone please tell me where I can get disney dollars for the kids. We'll be doing the park next week so I won't have time to buy on-line. Have read a thread about this sometime ago but can't seem to find it now. Please help.Thx.

Have only heard you can get them at a Disney Store - but also can get them at the parks....I too am interested in an answer as we'll be getting some soon as well!

If I get them at the Disney Store, is it a 1:1 exchange? Or do I pay Fees, Taxes whatever...

Yes you can get them at the Disney Store or at the park and it is dollar for dollar, no fees or taxes. I was also told that I could order them over the phone when my local Disney Store was out of them, but with leaving next week, that is not an option. I just thought I would mention it in case anyone else would like to purchase them that way.

I read somewhere to call Disney Mail Order to get them, and I did that today...only to be redirected. She said that since Disney no longer owns Disney stores, all of the stores don't have them. She told me to write a letter to request them, including payment+ 10.00 for shipping/handling.

Yikes! $10 for shipping / handling???? I think I'll "make my own" for my kids and give them real cash when we get there....

I wanted to type a follow-up for anyone interested. After talking to Joe, at WDW ticketing...I have learned...

You cannot purchase more than 50 bucks of "disney currency" on a credit card because credit card companies consider it a cash advance. You can use a check to purchase up to 650.00. The reason for the 10.00 shipping and handling is because it must be shipped by fed ex so that Disney can track the money, since it is like "cash".

We get them at the Disney store. Someone somewhere said they can buy them in $50 bills although I've never seen this one.
