Where have you gotten your dds ear pierced, and were pleased? DDs 10th birthday is this month, and she says I told her she could do this when shes 10:confused3 I dont remember that, but it was probably a long time ago and i was putting it off, lol. So, where to go? Claires??? thanks!!

I cant believe Im about to have a 10 yr old:rolleyes:

Another Piercing Pagoda here- and do both at the same time.

Pericing parogoda is my favorite. I got them done at claires and ended up with a terible infection in my percing. I was so miserable!

ooh, I dont want that! I dont even know if we have a piercing pagoda-Ill have to check. I didnt think about doing them at the same time, lol. I have a drama queen, so thats a good idea. Thanks!

We had both our DD's ears pierced by their pediatrician. Neither DD ever had infection or any redness-just perfect! Plus, I trust my pediatrician with their lives!! I've heard too many bad stories from Claire's, and I just don't want anyone inexperienced or potentially unsanitary NEAR my dd's. It's far too important to chance. I think dermatologists do it as well.:goodvibes

Claires and DD never has had any problems.

My DD got hers pierced at 10 just last year. Her only problem was that she lost an earring on vacation, so naturally we had to buy some new really nice earrings for her. I gave her some Motrin before we left for the Mall and have been diligent about taking care of them. She has not gone without earrings since she has had them pierced (even at night). She is affraid that her holes will close up. So she is very good about taking care of them.

Good luck!

I tend to see who would be doing the piercing. Call me paranoid but i dont trust places in the mall where the person doing the piercing is a young girl with who knows how much expereince doing it.I ahve heard many bad stories about getting it done at the mall (i do know success stories) but i am unwilling to take the chance.

as strange or extreme as it seems when i take DD to get her ears done, i take her to a body piercing place. all of the materials are steralized and clean. Never had any issues. for me the extra expense is worth it.

go to a real piercing shop (yes usually in a tattoo parlor) but a good one... there are very good clean ones... these people are professional piercers and do it the right way, clairs and other mall stores are not safe, not that putting a hole in your body for any reason is safe (please mind i have my ears pierced twice and 2 tattos so i'm not up tight).

Many people on other sites state that the "guns" are bad business. That the best way to do it is with a proper needle, where the skin is actually pushed out. Which means a proper piercing place. I know it's where I'd go if I wanted to punch another hole in my head, but since I almost never wear earrings in the 4 holes I already have (1 on the right 3 on the left ear), seems doubtful it will happen.

All that said, I had my matching set done at 4 at my ped's office.

Yes, I have a dermatologist in my family and he does ear piercings. When my kids get their ears pierced, we will have him do it. I would go with a doctor doing it even if I had to pay for it. ;)

We also went to a tattoo shop and had an experienced body piercer do DD's ears. He used a sterilized needle, not a piercing gun. I called ahead to set things up and he suggested we come mid day, mid week. He was great with DD, but I'm sure his shop would not have been an appropriate place for a child on a weekend evening. ;)

Do you live near a Sweet and Sassy Salon?
They were AMAZING with DD who was 3 at the time.

All 3 of my daughters had their ears pierced last May at Piercing Pagoda. If you call ahead you can find out when and what time they will have 2 people working. That way they can do both ears at the same time. They have had no problems. I didn't want to go to Claires because I was afraid some 16 year old would be piercing their ears.

The place we got the girls' done is closed now but I too would recommend an actual piercing shop. I had my cartiledge done at Claire's alone with getting my 3rd holes done there. I had to take out the cartiledge piercing because it was so swollen and infected and I had to take our my 3rd holes because they were crooked!!! I went to a piercing shop months later and had my cartiledge redone, that was the best piercing I've ever had.....it healed quickly and cleanly and I had no problems with it. I also got my belly button done at the same place a few months later. :)

We got DD's done when she was 4 at Claire's. We didn't have a problem and they did both holes at the same time. The women who did it were older. I don't think I'd let an 18 year old pierce my daughter's ears. Can anyone close to you recommend someone?

we're actually taking DD this weekend to get hers done. We're going to a piercing parlor/tattoo parlor as well. Less trauma to the tissue in her ear and hopefully better healing. I can't wait to get pics!

I posted this exact question a few weeks ago :) I ended up taking my 7 and 10 year old DDs to the local Claire's. The women there were wonderful and very patient. They pierced both ears at once and everything was sterilized etc. Both girls love their earrings and have had no problems!
