Where to get credit scores without signing up for a program?

I'd like to check our credit scores and reports, and am willing to pay for it. However, every program I can find will not allow you to simply purchase the report and score - you have to sign up for a 'trial' program that will enter an automatic renewal. I know you can cancel these, but you have to call in, deal with their people trying to talk you out of it, etc... I'd much rather just buy the report and score. Is there anywhere you can do this?

I could be wrong, but aren't we all entitled to 1 free credit report a year? I believe I used 'free credit report.com' or something very similar... I got a free report and was never charged. They actually send out a reminder of when your eligible for another free report.....if I find the actual website I'll let you know.

That's one of the one's I remembered, they sign you up for a trial. I know you used to be able to get a report from them (you'd have to pay for the score), but that doesn't seem to be an option. I even went directly to the website of the credit bureaus themselves - same result!

I just looked at the site too and this was the one I used a few years back...and it was free! Experion was one of those that did my report.... now they are charging! Wow! I'll keep looking.... sorry:confused3

If you go to www.myfico.com you can get one, two, or all three of the credit reports and scores. It is $15.95 each. And this will give you the actual FICO score which is used by credit and mortgage companies.

The scores you get from the other sites are their own scores. For example, the maximum on a FICO score is only 850, but at least one of the three agencies will go as high as 950. And Fair, Isaacs & Co will only do the one-time charge and will not bug you to sign up for monitoring or anything else.

Yes, if you pay money go to myFICO. Check to see if there are coupons around for it. Sometimes there are.

For reports go to annualcreditreport not freecreditreport.

When you get your free annual credit report most of the sites like Experian will ask if you want your credit score too for $6.00 extra. You don't have to join anything to get it.

I have a juniper credit card and one of the benefits is it always has my current credit score. The other benefit is that even w/the change in creit card laws juniper did not jack up my APR.

You can get a free report from each of the 3 major forms (equifax, experian, etc) every year. You are also entitled to view a copy of a report if someone else runs your credit (say for a job or a car loan). However these reports don't contain your fico score (the actual number) simply the information that went into deciding that number (accounts, balances, credit limits, payment histories, etc). Some credit card companies (Amex, etc) sometimes offer to give you your actual score. And there are a LOT of scam sites out there that offer you a free fico score but you have to sign up for a year of credit monitoring, etc.

Whenever I have gotten the annual free report it only includes the credit report, not the scores. :( You have to pay extra to get the number score

Unless it's changed in the last few months, equifax does give your real FICO score. The other two give you a "credit score" which is not a true FICO. Another interesting website is credit.com - it gives you a free report card on your credit.
