Where is a good place to get conch in Nassau are there any stands selling this? I love Conch salad and would love my 13 year old DD to try Conch for the first time so I'm thinking fritters. We have a 1245pm launch for Blue Lagoon so time is somewhat limited for an early lunch.

They don't have this on the ships do they?

Thanks, you guys are wonderful!!!!

I haven't seen them on the ship, but I did get really good ones at Atlantis during our last cruise. But that might be a little far to go since you already have plans.

I haven't been there yet, but have heard several people mention "The Fish Fry" (to locals) which is also known as Arawak Cay. It's west of the majority of the action but the Jitney #10 (don't take 10a) bus supposedly goes there. It has a lot of different shacks and a few larger restaurants. Google it, check out some of the reviews! Then let us know how it went. :)

Thanks, I'll check that out. I know when I stayed at Atlantis they had a lot of vendors over near the bridge that made conch salad to order, but most of the customers were locals. I was hoping for something closer to the boat, but I hear the bus is cheap so that may work if the service isn't Bahamian paced. ;)

We haven't tried the Atlantis ones but there are a bunch of stands and various places that offer conch. I believe we even went to a stand right inside the port, it was at one of the ends of the large port shopping area. They had decent fritters.

Fish Fry!!!! And yes, you can walk from the ship. My son and I stopped there on the way back from the Sheraton at Cable Beach. We had the #10 jitney drop us off then we walked back after eating.

GREAT food, cold beer, slow service. :)

Thanks, we don't really plan on doing much in Nausau. Maybe the straw market and then walk down for a few conch fritters for lunch.

:thumbsup2

WOW these sound awesome and yummy. Does anyone have pictures of them? Also are they forsure in the straw market, just inside port. We also are doing the blue lagoon and would love to try these conch fritters. DD was nervous in the market last March and I wanted to try the rum cakes. Next time, I 'am looking around the market.

A friend of mine and I were in Nassau on a cruise (non-Disney) in February and also wanted some good conch fritters and salad. We asked one of the local shop owners and they recommended The Iguana Cafe.

We tried it and it was really, really good. The conch fritters almost melted in my mouth! I didn't try the salad, but my friend did and she said it was excellent. She also ordered fried plaintains, and they were wonderful, too!

It's not far from the dock at all, maybe a block or two.

About a 10 min walk or less from the ship is a restaurant called Conch Fritters. We went there the first time 10 years ago when my husband and I went on an NCL cruise. When we went back on the Dream last May, it was still there and it was still awesome. When we went the first time, I was pregnant with my first child and we actually brought him there so he could try them. My DS 10 and DD 5 loved them. It is reasonably priced and everything is excellent. To get there, if you walk on the street by the water, past the straw market, Senor Frogs is on the corner, turn left and follow the road (it will curve) about 2 blocks down and it will be on the right hand side, you can't miss it. Enjoy!
