My DS4 is in preschool now and the teachers are not able to help them dressing or toileting which I understand due to liability. Anyway, he has trouble with buttons and snaps and really is trying/learning how to do it. Anyway, several days ago, he zipped his tummy and is now afraid of trying to button/snap.
I started looking for jeans at many, many stores and online and I cannot find any. He is out of size 5T and is now a size 5/6. I am beginning to think, I am not going to find any.
He has been wearing sweatpants and windpants to school but I really would love to find pull up jeans.
If anyone knows where I can find such jeans, please let me know!!! TIA!!

Lands End has some cute khaki elastic waist pants, as well as zippered jeans with elastic backs - could probaby pull up!

Try Target when I was at ours last week they had some in 7 and I think 6.

That would definitely be cheaper!

I used to find pants and jeans for my kids with all elastic waist lots of places, with I could remember more.

I agree, when they were young, it had to be pull down pull up - quick and easy.

I buy my DD's pants with the adjustable waists and tighten them just enough to hold them up on their waists, but loose enough to wear they can pull them up and down. My oldest DD is 8 and she still pulls them up and down instead of unfastening and fastening the button...lol

My DS10 still wears elastic waist jeans (no zippers, snaps, or buttons). I get them at Sears in the Boys Lands End dept. Just got a pair there last week.

Target also has elastic waist jeans.

The Children's Place has lots of elastic waist pants, but not the jeans. For some reason, their jeans have zippers.

The Children's Place. They make jeans and cargo pants that have no buttons or snaps but look like they do. They are elastic waist. They hold up nicely and look neat. They are also not very expensive. Target used to have elastic waisted jeans as well.

Kohls. I got my DS3 lots of jeans and kahkis for only $6 each. He can pull them on and off on his own. They have pockets and look like regular jeans too.

They can't help them due to liability? Liability for what? How sad that you can't help a 3 or 4 year old get their pants zipped or buttoned.

I think that she meant they can't help the kids because they don't want to be accused of molesting them. I had a cousin who went to a daycare for a few months where they were not allowed to pick the kids up or hug them. If a kid got hurt and was crying they would give them a quick pat on the head and say "you're alright" and that was it.

All of my suggestions for the pants have been covered. Usually the ones with elastic don't need to be unbuttoned. Like another poster, my DD9 still doesn't unbutton her jeans. But now it takes her a little longer to wiggle herself out of them since they don't have any elastic. :upsidedow

I have bought my DD jeans at Walmart that are elastic. Not sure if they are in the boys dept - but it's worth a shot.

I understand the liability thing, but it's a bit over the top. I would never go into a bathroom alone, but I will help a 5 year old undo their belt out in the open with the other students there. Better than having an accident! I have kindergarteners who have pants that are hard to unbutton, and our kids have to wear belts with the dress code! I have other kids assist, but sometimes things are just too hard to do!

I think I also saw some pants at Target. Good luck!

I was going to say that. My son just started kindergarten and I know he has trouble with buttons at home. WalMart had really cute pants - navy, khaki, camo, and I think gray that were elastic waist, cargo style, made really well, and best of all, super cheap (like about $7.00). It was their brand - Faded Glory which tends to run a bit big, so he'll have them for a while too.

The other day I paired them with a Janie and Jack shirt that my sister bought for him (because I won't spend that much $$ on kid clothes). I'm sure she would have been thrilled if she knew that she spent so much on his shirt and he wore it with his Walmart pants! :rotfl: :rotfl: It looked really cute though...

I got some in Sears (Toughskins) and in JCPenney (Arizona had one style with elastic)

I've always found elastic pants at Target and Walmart. My kids are just more comfortable in elastic and they are more forgiving when the kids grow. They can wear them longer than pants without elastic.

I am an aide in a special ed preschool class. We have to take the kids to the bathroom and change diapers for those who aren't yet trained. There's no liability issue for us. It's part of our job. Our only rule is no boys and girls in the bathroom at the same time.

We also appreciate when parents put easy up-and-down elastic pants on their kids. It allows them to be more independent and that's what we're striving for. We change the diaper kids standing up and ask them to pull their own pants up and down. Laying them on a table doesn't get them any closer to using the toilet but changing them in front of the toilet and having them participate does (our kids are all 3 and up).

We do help with buttons, snaps and belts, but our teacher always asks parents not to send them in clothes they can't manage on their own. We have a kid who is close to 5. He could pull his pants down but when he was done, he would just stand there and yell for help. He had no idea how to pull his pants up. Apparently, his mom always did it for him. He was also coming in pants with several buttons and snaps and a belt (that was more for show since his pants fit fine without it). We asked the mom to put him in elastic and stop helping him everytime he uses the bathroom at home. We told her he at least needed to try to do it himself. She was amazed that he learned within a couple of days and stopped calling for her. Anything that fosters independence in these kids is a good thing!:)

Hannah Andersson has some great ones. Very comfy, durable and will last him a long time (they do seem to grow with the kids).

Wow! I never elastic waists were such a huge hit!

Anyways, gap kids, they have zippers but they don't have snaps or buttons, they are the clip thing that slides, someone please help me in what it is called. You just pull it to the right and comes undone.

My mom actually broke DS because she was trying to unsnap it for him and my friends dr broke hers, same thing, they had no idea they weren't snaps or buttons.

I love them. DS doesn't ever undo the zipper and with some non gap kids jeans he just pulls them up and down too.
