Where to find health insurance?

I don't know why I haven't asked before, but does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about health insurance? As soon as the divorce is final, my health insurance will be gone. My girls will still be covered, but not me. It's a union thing.

Anyway, I could use some suggestions. And recommendations to look into?

Check with your local Department of Human Services (or maybe the Dept. of Health) and see if they have any insurance programs you qualify for.

I know a little bit of your story, but can't remember if you're employed full-time or not?

You could try calling insurance providers directly, but my guess is it would be pretty expensive. At one point, BF and I started a small business that we operated out of the house, and I got info from insurance providers, and the prices weren't too outrageous that way.

I have my heath insurance though my University's Alumni Association.

I'm curious as to why a Union can override COBRA which is a Federal Law. You should qualify under COBRA.

Older DS looked into BLue Cross (he's applied, but hasn't yet heard back). They have many different plans: lower premiums with higher deductibles. Or, try www.ehealthinsurance.com

Mitch, I don't know that they can. That is just what I understood from what I read.

I've got a lot of things to look into, and I came to the best resource of information for me.

So, Cobra is one thing to look into.

Hoosier Healthwise is mainly for children and very low income, but I'm still looking into that as well.

ehealthinsurance is a great website. I found it a few minutes ago.

Blue Cross has a great website as well and that's what I'm reading now.
